There's a great part where you have to reroute power and you can reroute it from either lights or oxygen. You have to choose between making it to your next objective in the dark or on a time limit and it's excellent.

The Peeling system also acts as a diagetic "health" indicator for Necromorphs: the more skin and flesh you tear off a Necromorph's body, the less shots you'll need to sever it, thus you can easily tell which limbs are weaker and thus easier to remove and which ones are fully covered and thus would need to be whittled down. The original game simply made you have to rely on your own memory to tell whether a particular Necromorph body part has been weakened by your shots.

This is the best part of the peeling system, it's super helpful in chaotic, drawn out battles where it's easy to lose track of where enemies are

And yes and no. The original Dead Space was more of a reference to The Thing. Little tentacles appeared from severed limbs, hinting that the necromorph is not dead, but simply its body is too damaged to waste the energy of the Marker on it. And the destruction of flesh in the new graphics rather demonstrates a game convention - future tools for destroying rocks cut off a limb longer than 50bmg IRL. It would be better to take the splitting necromorphs from Dead Space 3 as a basis than to do flesh destruction. Imagine - necromorphs are cut VERY easily, but in return, EVERY severed part continues to move after being cut off.

I'm glad they got rid of that asteroid gun turret,I've died more times on that stupid section then I did to the necromorphs,the sensitivity sucked the most,and it took me a while to learn that you have to shoot the big asteroids in the center,all in all,I hated that particular section

I would definitely love to see a similar remake for Dead Space 2 and maybe Dead Space 3. Although the 3rd game should stick more to its horror roots. While I liked DS3 overall. I was annoyed with being locked out of the areas that required co-op to enter. Not every game needs a multi player/co op experience.

The peeling system is really great, it's really useful during big chaotic fights. If you lose track of an enemy for a second, when you find them again you can see which limbs you've already damaged, and target those

I remember in the original, the part with the pod aliens. I was playing on I think hard mode. I kept running out of ammo and had nowhere I could go for more. I had to decrease the difficulty because of it, so I wouldn't need to use as much ammo.

To be fair Isaac’s past with unitology was already there in the early designs. But to get to it you would have to get some materials additional to the game itself. Now everything is in the game so you don’t need to search for those things to know the story. Although I would still recommend searching for those things if you’re a fan!

@@windy3935 in chapter 10 Isaac sees a hallucination between him and Nicole talking to each other on the future version of FaceTime and he reveals that his mom Octavia who was a unitoligist killed his dad Poul and committed suicide. Before Isaac went to retrieve their bodies the church had already taken them and won’t reveal where they are.

I've just completed the campaign of the remake and it's dope. The only thing that I have a problem with the game is the optimization on PC.

i loved the game but there are a few nitpicky problems with it such as oxygen tanks not having a dedicated quick use, the fact that about 40% of all my ammo drops were flamethrower fuel ( i sold around 5 full stacks of it over 15 hours while using it decently often), lack of a quick turn, etc. overall it was an amazing game, a proper 10/10 but those nitpicks were really annoying at times.

That was a great feature, too bad they removed it. It's rare to play a game where you care about your health so much as in DS1. The limping and heavy breathing was very immersive and made you panic a bit for medkits. In most other games it's just: ''Oh hey i have 20hp, let's take a medkit'' but in DS1 you could really feel when your character needs some milk.

This game is fun, the pulse rifle exploit helps a lot (because your gun is reloaded every time you upgrade the capacity, you pay 5k to respec the pulse rifle, get capacity upgrade, then shoot the secondary mines on the ground, then go back in the bench and upgrade to the next capacity and then shoot that clip onto the ground with the secondary fire…. then after you do that like 10 times, you pick up all the pulse rifle ammo laying on the floor, and sell it for like 15-20k, which keeps earning you 15 grand every time and later in the game when there are even more capacity slots, you can get up to like 35k in profit per exploit, and then just keep buying nodes, upgrades, and items with the insane amount of money you get…. i would suggest since it takes a lwhile to do it while you are watching tv on your phone, cause of the animations of opening and closing the bench)

When I tried to play the remake on my Xbox One (my very first experience with the series) every time I moved the camera too quickly, or something happened to quickly, the whole screen would glitch out, and then reset itself in a way. So in the beginning scene I couldn't really see the kellion crash in all its glory because the screen kept resetting. I said "screw that" and just downloaded the original for free via game pass or something. So glad I did. I think I'll just watch a playthrough of the remake instead

i really liked how u dont purchase weapons anymore and can refund nodes u used on them. the biggest reason for me liking this is cause the flame thrower and the pulse rifle are awful. and i wasted a good amount of nodes on the pulse rifle hoping it would make it good but it didnt. the cutter was my most used weapon

The alt fire for the flamethrower works pretty good with crowd control. Especially when combined with the force gun (gravity well)

@@Z-Mikes00 i found the pulse rifle to be garbage for normal use. took 3 grenades to kill 2 legless enemies in the 11th chapter and the regular fire even when fully upgraded to max damage still felt terrible to use. the line gun and ripper were by far the most useful guns for me. i stopped using the plasma cutter after like chapter 5 since i ran out of ammo and was getting 0 drops for it and only really used it for the tentacles and exploding guys

@@Wildfire667 we can’t expect the player to be placed into a setting where it’s always so tight quarters, eventually the necromorphs and everything related to the marker get into more open spaces, which in combination with the necromorphs increasing in numbers at some point, the devs have to change the dynamic and playstyle to accommodate the changing story. It’s just like resident evil in how the zombie numbers are low and the story works to get the playable character stuck in tight quarters but as more humans become zombies and whatever virus Capcom makes them turn into, you get games like RE5 or RE6. While I’m not saying those are better story wise or are executed correctly to fit the growing narrative, it’s probably always a necessary evil for franchises with growing numbers of infected enemies, and they can only take the first tries and do a better mix of both in the future.

Just like the Resident Evil series remakes, the Dead Space remake is now the definitive experience of MY gaming. Although the original was awesome, playing the remake with it’s new side quests and multiple endings, plus the immersive horror elements, remakes of 2 and 3 should be definitely considered. EA Motive has given gamers a new reason to play this incredible game so continuing the story is a no-brainer.

No they didn’t. New Kendra’s voice actress comes across as a sASSy know it all and her character made Hammond’s take a dump. The motion capture makes the necromorphs goofy along with their new sounds. The grab animations of the necromorphs isn’t as frantic or brutal as the original. Marker was more ominous and mysterious in the original with how it was introduced than the remake. Woke shit in the remake.
