Some of your facts are off as the N64 CV was initially praised by most, and CoD was also praised upon release also Igarashi was not promoted to director of SotN he was the co producer. As for the first CV it was never confirmed who the original team behind the development.

Symphony of the Night, while being one of the greatest side-scrolling games ever made, likely has one of the best soundtracks of any game ever, up there with Nobuo Uematsu's "Final Fantasy". Appropriately gothy, haunting... It's as much of a character as Alucard, Dracula or the Castle itself.

Legacy of Darkness and Castlevania 64 are the best in the series imo. Very underrated. Its a meme to hate on them.

As good as SOTN is, it is many miles away from its potential. You factor in all of the game mechanics you can simply skip they could have added multiple castles and outdoor areas and there would sill be enough backbone mechanics that simply adding areas would have required almost no changes to those mechanics. As fun as SOTN was, I found the following stuff annoying: 1. You can ignore elements and survive/kill anything. Even the "optional super boss" could be killed with vanilla tactics and equipment. 2. You can ignore food and healing items completely. Soul steal was all I ever used as it was super annoying to use items to heal. 3. You can ignore sub-weapons. They make you stronger but SOTN is never hard enough that you actually need them. 4. There is at least 5 times more equipment than you could ever use or need rendering them a cool completionist goal. 5. Other than soul steal you can ignore spells completely and never miss them. 6. You can ignore buffs as you wont ever be weak enough to require them. 7. Other than the gimmicks that force you to use familiars and form changes you can ignore familiars and form changes and still win with ease. I hope this game is remade someday to make full use of all of its game mechanics. I would love to see a SOTN remake where the game is virtually unbeatable if you skip using all of the game mechanics. Imagine a boss that required combining buffs, spells, sub-weapons, form changes, elemental protection and exploitation of elemental weakness to actually make the boss easy. You could use preparation and mastery of the game mechanics to crush them or go vanilla for a real challenge. That would be a far better experience. FFVII suffers from the same exact issue. Its an awesome game but still miles from its potential. If you know what you are doing FFVII and SOTN both are way too easy with way too much in the way of irrelevant game mechanics.

Any new game released by konami with "castlevania" in the title is nothing more than a cash grab. IGA's Bloodstained is the real castlevania we know and love. konami's castlevania is dead.

Poor franchise if it wasn't for Konami being the laughing stock of the industry as of right now. As of right now, there's no hope from Konami. The only way to experience anything related to Castlevania is anything "Bloodstained". Curse of the Moon may suffered from outdated designs of old-school Castlevania games like the goddamn "Stairs" physics, poor jumping controls, & shitty subweapon management, few critics as of right give it a positive reception regardless(Though I'm not interested since I rather be stuck with the past of Super Castlevania 4 with Save States). Hopefully Ritual of the Night don't suffer the same fate as Keiji Inafune's Mighty No 9.

It was a fantastic game IMO, the only fault that crippled it however was the very flat levels, slow movement speeds that made traversing the world a chore, and complete lack of platforming. Other than that the game had a great story, gameplay, and fantastic music score.
