A very young girl was trying to ask a question but unfortunately used the wrong word "Criticism", could be because of less exhaustive English vocabulary. Barkha shut her down so badly. Maybe if we had listened to her patiently, her question might have had made sense, maybe better than other generic questions. We are talking about depression which builds up slowly. (Shaheen was asked to be out of the frame and that affected her at so many levels). Barkha shushed that girl in public. We do not know what kind of effect that is going to have on that girl. She might feel afraid to speak up again in public. She may become super conscious of her English Skills. Her peers may make fun of her when goes back to school or college. I just hope that if something happens to her as what happened to shaheen, she gets a stage to share her story.

Shouldn't the title be 'Shaheen Bhatt opens up about her battle with depression'? It's wonderful that Aalia is supporting Shaheen, but would've loved for the focus to remain on Shaheen as this is HER story, not Aalia's.
@hanah34015 жыл бұрын
Vee Modha Yes, but people know Alia and will watch. They don’t know Shaheen. A lot of people like me was recommended to this video by KZbin because we are subscribed to Alia Bhatt KZbin channel. so they had to used Alia Bhatt name in the video title to get people to watch.

Telling Alia to be at the shadow for a while whilst Shaheen receives the award and yet not convinced that putting Shaheen in the title wouldve gotten them as much views as with Alia. This shows the level of hypocrite these host/organisers are, masala seeker..
@HarshaChandani-p6m26 күн бұрын
It's sad that I am watching this video in 2024 and even after 4 years, the creator of the video didn't consider changing the title? I mean can we really let our actions speak? Just saying in the video that Shaheen should be on the foreground and not Alia and then going on to title the video in her name! It's all about views then; I guess the world just wants to talk and not actually do anything. Good thing that you brought such a candid and honest conversation but please let Shaheen take the centre stage for once! Huge respect for Shaheen, lots of love💕

Alia saying that ' there's always something new to learn because depressed person suffers everyday ' helped me so much . In India if a young woman talks about depression,most people start commenting that it may be because of a breakup or boyfriend.The worst thing is when people tell you to "get over it" or say it's "attention wh@ring".

THIS IS WHAT NEEDS TO BE SAID LOUDER!! When i quote something sad to my friends they're like "Did some guy do something?" 😵

Absolutely, on point ! I still get questions on my depression. That’s so rude ! They think everything revolves round boys and shit. Which ain’t true ! Anyone can be depressed due to any reason, doesn’t need to be a dumbfounded boyfriend!

The title is so demeaning and cheap! This is a complete talk about how sidelining can hurt someone so much. And the very title of this is about Alia. How shameful.

It effects women in pregnancy too especially with 3 csections and no support . . Some men are just so ignorant and arrogant to their pregnant wife's

I always wondered why people are suicidal or why they just give up on life like that but when depression and anxiety really hit me I could relate to those. It's easy to call out oh he's rich has a good job or oh she's a celeb or a member of the royal family everyone has their own issues and I feel it should be out to the young ones and should be given at least one class a week on health and well-being kids should know it's okay to feel low it's okay to fail it's okay to be yourself... When I was in school I was captivated by this whole family and relatives pressure that you always have to win.... People need to understand that not everyone is same after all it's a human being and each will work in their own way they aren't horses of a racecourse to always win.... mental health is a big issue and so many people aren't aware of it.....

I love the fact that this family is just so raw and non pretentious. Also in support to all those who are closed. Honestly very few people are humans. Good to know this family has held up strongest in these days.

In todays age people want to see glam pics and happy faces, no one wants to connect with people who are sad, no one wants to give a shoulder to cry on, they will say no matter how you feel just dress up, show up and carry on like "normal" don't make anyone uncomfortable with your fears or tears. Empathy is truly lacking in society of pretending to be happy and successful today. The message is "Be Kind" and genuinely try and lend a helping hand🖐️

I'm so grateful to Shahin and you Barkha, for doing this.. I'm a depression surviver myself... I'm doing extremely well since last four years, I'm completely off medication( thanks to good diet, exercise and most importantly my family) but some days are just too hard and then I come back to this conversation on those days.. my battle always starts feeling like a cake walk then and I feel completely capable of overcoming everything. Just thank you, thank you, thank you!!

I have three questions: 1. Did depression have any effect on shaheen's education? I am asking coz it destructed my academic life 2. Sometimes we talk about our depression all the time with our friends and they tend to ignore us... How do you handle it? How do you handle alienation? 3. Are medicines really helpful? When I was taking medication, I used to feel sleepy a lot.
@Kanika98025 жыл бұрын
Yes, depression has an effect on education because it hampers your concentration and mindfulness to quite an extent. People tend to ignore because they are too afraid to take up the responsibilty of helping you out throughout even if they want to. Lending you ears or some sort of comfort for a day or two and doing that every now and then are two different responsibilities. And sometimes, out of the awareness and simultaneously the guilt that their help may still not be enough for you may keep them away from helping you out. The medications may affect the sleep..but eventually the body gets acquainted for it..and medications do help

Medicines do help. Keep at it till you find the right medication and a mental health professional who is ready to work with you.

I think it was psychological that has created the chemical that is now part of your DNA. The photographer may not have meant it but we have to accept we Indians are the most racist people that exist when it comes to color, shape and size and in making comparisons. Our competition is very often not a healthy one.

Barkha, this by far is your most purposeful program. This is such a genuine program unlike one with a commercial corporate agenda. It is endearing and equally heart breaking to see the two sisters speak with such honesty and guts. Also an Eye-opener to many who troll celebrities insensitively for every little thing they do. They are as human. Basically thank you for making the effort towards a more sensitive society.
