Ankita Pradhan, a lawyer, fiancee of a serving army officer and the daughter of a Brigadier, speaks for the very first time, in detail about the horror she underwent in Odisha. She has alleged that she was beaten, molested and abused at a police station where she and Capt Gurvansh Singh had gone to file a complaint against a group of rowdy miscreants who attempted to misbehave with them on the road.
The incident has had the military community up in arms.
The Chief Minister has met the couple even as the police also counter attack Ms Pradhan.
"My character is being attacked but I will fight this till the end," she says to Barkha Dutt. "That's what we were taught- how to be survivors"

I am from Odisha and I don't think she is lying. She is an empowered and educated today's woman who has a voice. Some men just can't take it. They get intimidated by strong willed opinionated women. And if a man or a woman talks in English with them, these Policemen tend to get terribly intimidated by it and start abusing the victims by calling them with many derogatory obscene names. I faced it myself back in 2016. These Policemen are extremely corrupted and have political connections too.

Lady constables wearing nighty etc. Its a serious matter inside police stationi. For she was knocking door at night 1am in police station and there was so much delay in opening the door. It was reported, in Kerala, sometime ago some army personnel were roughed up by the police. They went back to their battalion and in a while they came back with their friends to the police station and taught the police a lesson of their life they will never forget.

She is telling the facts. Being a lawyer she is protesting and the police have misbehaved with her after wrongly throwing the Army officer in cell when he was calmly writing his complaint. The miscreants outside misbehaving with the couple led to confront ation and then the police do even more in police station to them. This is not acceptable. Now the Army top brass should intervene and do what was done in 1970s during Manekshaw days with police. Unfortunately now the Army Generals are selling their soul and no longer respected. They started to lick Modi's feet to get promotions and all chamchas and chutias are becoming Generals and Chiefs. The result is for all to see how army slodiers, officers are being abused across the country by Modi, Shah, RSS, police and Gundas combination of Hindu Rashtra. Shame on Army for not standing up for the soldiers. In next war with Pakistan, China soldiers will remember the let down by their Generals of their families.

It’s disheartening that a military officer who is at the service of his nation ,protecting it 24* 7 at the cost of his and his family’s lives, one of the member going through such an agony. The way her voice shook with tears held back.. literally broke me. Even more heartbreaking was the way she was narrating everything with utmost courage and steadfastness .. as if she was The Lawyer presenting her own case in a controlled and logical manner. Like the emotions were dead..blunted. The scar, yes, it will remain though the wound may heal.. not just for her, but in allegiance, for me and many many women.. as well as for many empathetic, upright, decent men too. Let's not make a demon of all men. I really hope the Army takes a strong and persistent stand too... as should the National Lawyers Association, and the Society at large. What happened is as abominable as RG Kar hospital case and many other atrocities on men, women and children, just due to intoxication of power, depravity and vengefulness, and moreover, Our Impotent Silence. Her Fiance has suffered equally. I am ashamed and livid with all these incidents from all corners of the country (and the world) time and again. And we think we, as humans, are a superior species!

Ankita, I am terribly heart broken to hear the trauma you have gone through. At the same time I am so very proud of you being so brave to reveal your agony in this video. Hats off to you dear girl. I am a grandmother of young girls and I am very scared of their safety these days. I come from an army background of four generations.. As you said ,yes we are Survivors and become very independent and learn to fight our own battles. Being a wife of an Ex army officer myself ,have raised my daughters the same way that I have been raised. We have seen the golden era ,where the girls / ladies were looked up with respect. These days , with all the horror around us,I feel girls should be trained in martial arts!! As for the police stations they have become dens for rowdies and barbarians! These who are supposed to protect laws,are the ones who have to be dealt with rod. Iam so grateful to you that you have not shyed away from facing the camera. You are indeed a beacon of light to all the females. God will surely bring you justice,and the beasts at the police station will jave to face the consequences.
