To those who don't believe in traditional practices, this might seem like a small issue! There is a practice in which many people take a vow of Venkateswara Deeksha (similar to the Ayyappa Deeksha) for at least 40 days. During this period, they abstain from meat and regulate their food, sleep, and speech. On the final day, they walk barefoot up the steps to Tirumala to have darshan of the deity. After darshan, they eat the Lord's prasadam and consider their deeksha completed. If they later find out that the prasadam they ate contains ghee made from animal fat (which may include beef fat), it is not a small issue for them! For people who have never consumed even onion or garlic in their lifetime (respecting the saathvik tradition) and who have spent most of their lives in devotion and recitation of the Vedas, learning that the Lord's prasadam they have been eating was prepared with ghee made from animal fat is not a trivial matter!! The debate isn't about whether God exists or not. It’s about respecting the right to religion if those, who live with faith in God. Feeding such devotees this kind of prasadam is a serious violation of their trust and is also unconstitutional. This is why people who oppose the belief system cannot understand the pain of true devotees. Imposing punishment on those involved in such activities may offer temporary relief, but the real solution lies in freeing temples from government control. If the administrative activities of all temples in India are handed back to their traditional custodians (Vaishnava temples to Vaishnava peetadhipatis, Shaiva temples to Shaiva peetadhipatis, etc.), Hindus wouldn’t have to live in constant fear, wondering what might happen to the temple ecosystem under whichever government comes to power. #free_hindu_temples_from_govt_control

Therefore the question of Vegetarian or Non Vegetarian is only for humans and not for the Paramathma. Even if Lord Rama take non-vegetarian, there is nothing wrong, since he is not a Brahmana. Paramatham takes many forms and one of which is Lord Rama. Similarly, Paramatham takes another form as Lord Prasasurama, who is a Brahmana. He is non-meat eater. Also, do not confuse the varna Brahmana with today's caste Brahmins. Today's Brahmins must not be called as Brahmins, since they are not have the same characteristics of a Brahmana. They are caste Iyer and Iyengar etc.

Churches and Mosques in India are private properties belong to Private Organisations managed by their trusts. Similarly there are 1000s of private Mutts, Ashrams and worship places managed Privately by their Trustees and controlled by Head of Mutt Ashrams etc. Few examples are Kanchi Mutt, Madurai Aadheenam, Kumbakonam Mutt etc... Govt has no business there or no rights in it. However there were also Several thousand Temples which were the property of Kings all over India for Several Centuries. For Example The Thanjavur Shiva Temple was build by Raja Raja Cholan during 1010 AD and was maintained by Chola Dynasty Kings for a long time. Basically those temples belong to the goverment, in other words (Public Temples , Private Temples) if at all the governent wants to transfer the property rights who would be that person and what basis an indvidual or a newly founded Organisation can have rights of Such Properties worth over several Thousands of Crores. So basically all the goverments set up a separate Ministry or Department to Manage the Public temples and act as a regulatory body (Not Private Temples like Kaanchi or Kumbakonam Mutt). A recent news in Tamilnadu is that over 2000 acres of temple Land and its Properties of Chithambaram Temple (Just one Temple ) was illegaly sold to Private people by people who work there. if there is no such central control or command over Public Temples Soon (Humans are Humans ) the remainng properties of temples including its most expensive Idols gifted 1000 years ago would also be smuggled and sold out. Basically even if goverrment wanted to gift its properties to somebody who would be that person ? After his death who would get that rights over it. who would be resposible for maintainence /repair works protection of its belongings etc. To Conclude there are still a lot of private Hindu temples managed by Private Ashrams , Mutts , Trusts etc. Not sure who has the legal right to inherit the kings properties like Raja Raja Chola . So basically kings properties are transferred to Goverments . If there is a better solution i am sure atleast BJP goverment would have found a better solution to this.

Very well explained.. Abdul Kalam example is a masterpiece... Abdul Kalam's closest friend (chaddi dost) is a Brahmin priest.... His speeches reflected his deepest respect for Rameshwaram temple and the prasadam he used to eat there! Atleast today we have some thread of accountability is still there, if temples are run by trusts, something of this sort happens difficult to pin accountability, remember people in bihar died to visit some baba.. so audits, security, etc requires some oversight… for example RBI doesn’t run the bank and banks are being run by capable people.. so some banks succeed and some don’t.. RBI cares for the bank’s customers right… something of that sorts.. every religious bodies should be regulated, like decibels levels of the speakers, preventing hate speech, forced conversions, source and use of funds… these things needs to be regulated

Why everyone is conveniently skipping the fact that any ghee that enters Tirumala for the use in Devasthanam will be tested before it even enters Alipiri. If any adulteration is found, the tanks will be rejected and will be sent back. If this is the practice that’s being followed for centuries, how can such ghee reach the temple Laddu prasadams? It was rejected based on the samples that were tested and sent back to the vendor. No contamination was done because of these strict measures by the temple. Devotees shouldn’t worry at all. Please know that it’s a political trap.

I beg you to call for the same cause on Bakrid as well or even Easter perhaps. The onus on compassion and sustainability does not fall on Hindus alone! Furthermore, for most of the last 2 decades at the very least, ghee for the TTD was sourced from the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) who mostly source their milk from individual farmers (note: the private dairy farms are a minority of the chain) and tbh I am yet to see a farmer who mistreating the cow of the house, considering my rural background and familial connections. The main mahanaivedyam which is samarpan for lord venkateswaraswami is made with high quality ghee procured from the particular gomatha as mentioned in sasthra . Priests haven’t compromised on that, they made sure the corruption doesn’t let the quality of samarpana Prasadam isn’t disturbed. But the management thought they will reduce cost by procuring lesser cost ghee from some other sources for the mass production of prasadam that’s distributed among bhakths. The quality reduction started with cashew first which is immediately observed and then raisins. But the amount of donations are so huge, the management need not save so much on the cost of something which is sold ( not distributed )

For me, as a vegetarian, this is actually devastating. The other issue concerns the rights of the person buying and eating the laddu assuming it is a vegetarian laddu. Families who eat non veg, practice veg food before going to the temple and eat only veg food while on a pilgrimage as its considered sattvic. It is a violation of the rights of the consumer if a promised product is not delivered as per the said guidelines.

I think there is 3 major things to be considered... 1. Temple management.. 2.Temple rituals, prasad, annadanam.. 3. Temple maintenance, house keeping etc... Mansgement must be by professionals.. Ritials etc by experianced and qualified priests.. Maintnance etc by committee of devotees.. Please do remember that there are a lot of temple's who do not have that much income... As it is TTD we are discussing about it.. The Andhra politics is another reason why we discuss about it. In my little experiance / knowledge nobody is worried about quality and purity of Pooja material in Government controlled temples or Private temples or temples being run by trusts /ashrans etc.. oil, milk, butter, Sandle wood, kalabham, vibhoithi /bhasma, camphor, what is being manufacturered and marketed is consumed as it is Also we have to resolve the discrimination amoung ourself based on cast in temples

Agree with Dushyant when it comes to Prasadam. Our bhakti too adulterated. Am not sure whether the Laddu is given to visitors as prasadam free. I may be wrong, but what I heard is you have to have a fat purse to buy those laddus that too the privileged ones get priority!!. How a true bhakth take ghee by knowing the atrocities and the pain our gomatha's suffer for the sake of milk, ghee... Hypocrisy!!

What a shame, people should not trust TTD and waste money going all the way to Tirupathi. When you receive a product in any organization there would be a quality check for such a huge consignment on regular basis. All the members within TTD are corrupt, but TDP is trying to paint YSRCP as the villain and not booking the officials for the corrupt practice, what a shame by the current incumbent Government. We can pray at home or Balaji Chirkoor Temple now onwards as we lost trust in TTD.

The laddus in Tirupati are not given for free. They give small laddu as prasadam while coming out. But medium and big laddu is given for 300 Rupees darshan or to those participating in special seva. Or people can buy it from counters by paying money. So where is the point of cost cutting here on the ghee by Rejecting Nandini. Our temples are not for running business. That itself explains the issue here.
