On Hindu & Muslim Numbers Released in Govt Report, "Misleading" says Population Foundation

A paper released by members of the Prime minister's economic advisory council has generated a political storm. The paper argued that India's Hindu population has decreased by 7.8% in 65 years since 1950 and correspondingly the Muslim population has witnessed an increase of 43.5% in the corresponding year.
Calling the paper and the headlines around it as misleading and inaccurate the PFI said there has been a "selective portrayal of data' and that decadal growth of Muslim population had been on a downward trajectory, "outpacing that of Hindus"

Then she says muslim growth rate is incorrectly understood. 3:35 "Muslim population is declining in India" (*THIS IS A BLATANT LIE BTW*) At 3:36 She suddenly confirms that rates are important , and says muslim growth rate (which is a % figure ) is declining faster than Hindus. Numbers and percentages do not lie, no amount of hand waving and theatrics can change the fact that muslim population in india has increased by significant amounts with corresponding significant decrease in hindu population. Yes they need help. But that doesn't mean there population didnt grow faster. The guest shifted grounds so many times. When it suited her she talked of percentages and when suited then used absolute numbers. The population grows in geometric progression and not arithematic progression. So percentage change is the best way to represent the growth and not absolute numbers. She is just manipulating numbers so that people don't target muslims. While I agree there is politics besides this but that doesn't mean scientists should manipulate people by shifting grounds to suit their agenda. End this political correctness

I am sure people can understand the report by themselves. Such permanently biased experts like the Poonam cannot help the situation. But Barkha must come up with her own biases. The plane facts are Muslims continue to procreate much more than any other community. This happens because of their religious teachings. No Quereshi/Poonam/ Barkha can deny this. Indeed, Muslims share will further rise to 18%. This is, without doubt, a cause of worry because Muslims leaders use their higher percentage of votes to bargain for better facilities and rights officially and unofficially. Bangladesh's programs are not relevant here. With parties like congress and Samajwadi/ RJD playing Muslims card always, such social trend is threatening.

As a student of population Studies we know that a population with smaller base shows higher percentage of growth and vice versa. 50 people becomes 100 is a100 % growth. 100 people becomes 150 is only 50% growth though absolute increase in each case is same ...50 people.

Population of India is now 150 cr. . each year 2.5 cr children are born. Within 10 years our population will be 170 cr. We are the most populous country of the world now, surpassing China. Our gross population is huge. It is true that socio economic development will reduce population growth but how long we have to wait ? Personally I see that Muslim families have much higher number of children. The overall population is really a matter of concern . If we follow two child policy it means we will have 2.2 cr babies each year but if we follow one child policy we can have 80 lakh birth per year .it means India will be able to reduce its population burden of 1.4 cr. Poonam Murtheja declining the dogma of Muslim to give more birth. We need one child policy for all for a better India. Strict laws are required and we can not wait so long that development is the only contraceptive to stem population growth. We need overall efforts to stem population . Poonam Murtheja should know the ground reality.

The EAC-PM has done a statistical sleight of hand to create mischief in this election time. This should have been the calculation for change in population proportions: Hindu: 78.06% (2015) - 84.68% (1950) = -6.62 percentage points Muslim: 14.09% (2015) - 9.84% (1950) = 4.25 percentage points

As per EAC-PM's calculation, the Sikh population increase is 49.19%, the Buddhist population increase is 1520.00%, and the Muslim population increase is 43.19%.
