Finally!!!!! :) ...btw the band almost hates this song XD ..every metal head in Finland knows this song and it soon became almost synonymous with Mokoma's songs. It's a tad too simple for for their catalogue and many internet memes came out of this song. Takatalvi is translated "backwinter". It's a word in finnish meaning that winter comes back after it has completely gone away. It happens here like every other spring

Finally Mokoma! This song is old, it was released in 2003 from their third album. Great song, and love this live video where Japanese people go absolutely mental. The lyrics are funny but still all-the-way-badass, 'Takatalvi' means an unexpected hellish winter when it starts snowing in spring/summertime.

Funny that you mentioned Stam1na here, as Mokoma and Stam1na were actually some of the first entirely Finnish-singing metal bands. Mokoma was actually kicked off by a label because they wanted to do Thrash Metal in Finnish, which their label said would be stupid and nobody would want to listen to them. They formed their own record label called "Sakara Records" in 2003 and Stam1na signed a record deal with them in 2004. They also hold bands such as Teräsbetoni and Rytmihäiriö, and have been very successful, not only touring in Finland but abroad as well. Basically one of the best stories of giving someone the middle finger while winning an argument.

Takatalvi means the return of winter, something that Finns curse sometimes in the spring when they think the long and dark winter is behind them, air is warm and sunny but then all of a sudden snow has fallen during the night, there's minus degrees, the car won't start, the roads are slippery etc. "Oh fuck, it's takatalvi!"

Ah I'm so glad you reviewed my all time favourite band! I think Takatalvi is a great introducing to the band but they also have a lot more "complicated" and songs with deeper meaning. They're very diverse while keeping the thrash metal sound still going on. I'm so sad you can't understand Finnish though, Mokoma's singer Marko Annala is probably one of the greatest song writers in Finland. Many of his lyrics are inspired by his long lasting depression (for example the album Elävien Kirjoihin, which means basically back to life, is purely depression themed and how he eventually got over it) and he uses lots of great metaphoras. So if you ever learn Finnish any further, definitely pay attention to them! Maybe some translations are available in internet too. :) Oh, and they're really great live band! Seen them four times now I think.

Mokoma really is the best metal band from Finland, for me. Don't get shocked how different their discography is, they got some radio rock in there, mixed with death and thrash metal, even to some black metal stuff. I would recommend song like Minä elän or Sinä riität.

Oh yeah! I knew you would love them! To me Mokoma is like next level thrash metal. Some prog/death/folk thrown in the mix. One of my favourite bands along with Stam1na, and they've been for as long as I know them now. They are still putting really great albums out there. The one they made this year is incredible. Too bad I think you won't be able to react to it since they're not on the Sakara Records channel anymore. Otherwise, I higly recommend "Valkoista Kohinaa" and "Nujerra Ihminen". They're both on the Sakara Records channel. By the way, I've been mentionning this band for a long time. ;)

Mokoma has a long history with album after another of great music. For a bit different kind of Mokoma, I'd recommend even a slightly folky Kesytä perkeleet from their latest album, then there are Kasvot kohti itää and Kuollut, kuolleempi, kuollein (both one of my favourite songs they play live). They also have two acoustic albums.

This was probably your best pronunciation yet! It's not quite perfect yet but literally everyone would understand you if you said that. I finally know who made this song! I heard it once like six or seven years ago and wondered who would make such a ridiculous song (The chorus is kinda ridiculous, I like it, but still XD), but I never knew who made it. I've only recently begun to listen to Mokoma and hadn't heard this song yet. I'd recommend Kesytä Perkeleet for your next Mokoma song. Also, react to Arion - Burn Your Ship (Studio Version)

I don't know have you heard yet but 2019 Tuska will be 18 and over. There have been very low amount of under 18 visitors in Tuska past years. Last year there was under 100 kids. When festival is 18 and over they can serve alcohol everywhere and no special areas needed. I think there is not many metal festivals for all ages in Finland anymore. I don't know is there any chance to get exception to under 18 year old kids to go there. I really hope you can make it or then you two have to wait couple of years

That's actually a good point: you can't fart in Finland without a band or a band member being around. It's actually a real thing that there isn't a family in Finland that doesn't have a musician in it. For example I have 5 siblings, our parents both play the guitar, 2 of my siblings play the guitar, I play guitar and bass, my brother plays bass and many folk instruments. So out of a family of 8 people, 7 have practised music. And that's completely normal in Finland. By the way, you should check out an app called "Duolingo" if you really want to get some basic Finnish skills before Tuska 2019. It's completely free, you can learn pretty much any language, you can set it up so that you can do like a 5-minute word exercise every day, and the app will notify you every day about that. I personally use it just so I don't forget Swedish and German, because I spent years studying those languages.

This was the first song i ever heard from Mokoma, and i became fans instantly. But i have to say this song sounds better now, when the band has aged. Please do more Mokoma songs for example Sinne missä aamu sarastaa or Hiljaisuuden julistaja. Also you have done Stam1na before on this channel so give their new song Enkelinmurskain a go.

Their new song is copyright blocked by the label otherwise we would have done it already.

This song is pretty simple, one of their first songs. Nowadays their music has the same energy, but it's a bit more complex, especially considering lyrics.

This proves that it doesn’t have to complex to be good!
