Michael’s approach to his subjects is a lesson in itself - in fact, it is the most important lesson. Hat’s off to you, Michael

What an awesome video, and so much great information and so many wonderful photographs. Thanks so much for taking the time to produce such a masterpiece! I completed my Hasselblad collection of 500cm camera and CF lenses over twenty years ago, and have just lately begun to explore the limitless possibilities as I near retirement and have six months to travel each year. Hopefully, I'll be able to share pictures like yours sometime soon. Thanks again. Ken

He was at the same school as my late best friend, though I think my friend was a year or two ahead of him. He has definitely lost his his Lancashire accent. A phenomenally talented man and I think luck has less impact than putting in the time with his camera. His view of the world as whole is wonderful, and that definitely comes through in his images. I love working in the darkroom, though I'm not very good and can only do 35mm film at the moment. I know Michael Kenna learnt his skills printing by putting many many hours in. To me he's the greatest living British photographer. Thank you for this video.

I have the chance of visiting South Korea for three weeks in January. I think this video just added another place on my list, even though I probably won't have enough time for even a little part of this amazing group of islands!

Wow.. you're very inspiring.

Loved the video. It is also ironic that the beauty of the islands were noticed and captured by you a foreigner while there are numerous photographers in Korea. Maybe you don't realize the beauty of your surroundings while you are close to them.....

@GaetanCormier7 жыл бұрын
I doubt that he will respond but in another interview Michael mentionned that his film of choice is Kodak Tri-X but he does not mind using other brands according to where he is... If only Fuji Acros is available he will use Fuji Acros.. Agfa (Rollei) etc... Hope this helps!

So who pays the bills to travel without a plan, or not to have goals? Just to see what’s there? I fear there is a lot of work behind the scenes unmentioned. Good images, sure. Unfortunately I fear the attitude of this video is… shall we say, “Stretched”.

Probably the dreadful narration. I can't believe it is actually Michael Kenna speaking. The narration makes him sound like a simpleton. Given the depth of Kenna's photographic intent, the voice-over is asinine and insincere. A disservice to the man and his craft. An enjoyable video if it wasn't for that, and a number of those photos were sublime.

Narration @8.11 was very wrong, In reality, human can't live without nature while, nature flourishes extensively without human.
