A masterful photographer. This is a great source of inspiration for me. What I like best is that his work is never larger than 8" x 8" for an exhibition. Today's photographers only want more megapixels and very large, bombastic prints. For me, these are the fireworks photos, a lot of attention for a while and then quickly forgotten. You will look at a photo of Michael Kenna up close and absorb every tonality in his work. Then you realize what a masterpiece it is and you will never forget it. Another excellent video of a master of photography, Joel. Antoine.

I admire Kenna; he has a unique style that is instantly recognizable. The work he has done with a Holga plastic camera is simply stunning and an inspiration. Thanks for another excellent profile of a great photographer. You should have 10 times more followers.

Great video.I've been a fan of Kenna's for decades. I have a couple of his prints, one is the schoolyard at 15:36, which I got at the Weston Gallery in Carmel in the late 1980s (one day someone will tell me what the squiggly lines are for). They are beautiful.

Thanks so much for watching and for your awesome comment! 😊 It’s amazing to hear that you’ve been a fan of Michael Kenna for decades and even have a couple of his prints - that's incredible! The schoolyard print you mentioned is such a stunning piece, and I totally get what you mean about the squiggly lines! I’ve always wondered about those too. Kenna's work really has a way of pulling you in with those mysterious details. I’m really glad you enjoyed the video, and I hope you'll stay tuned for more! Feel free to share it with anyone who might appreciate Kenna's artistry too. Have a fantastic day! 🌟

He does not “ capture what he encounters.” He manipulates the image to match what’s in his head.
