Have you had problems with mold in your home? Where is it growing? What sort of solutions have you tried?

I just bought a home I did not see mold before I purchased but one day my electricity tripped and when I went back to the house there was mold near one of the windows on the ceiling in the basement will this be an ongoing issue

We have had mild problems for ages, but it has just currently came to my attention now how bad it actually is. I can't even go around the bathroom without spotting mold and ants everywhere, it is honestly disturbing. The worst victim of mold in my bathroom is my toothbrush cup, it's got literal fungus growing inside, because I never use it

You’d need one in every part of your house and they’d need to be on all day, which will cost you loads in electric. They’re noisy and need to be emptied. Best if you invest in central ventilation.

I never had a problem with a non heated, non insulated garage for the last 23 years. Now I have condensation and high humidity in my garage. House built in the 60s. Live in the north east so can not have a dehumidifier in here for the winter. I did put in an exhaust fan recently. Moisture seems to me coming up thru the concrete wall foundation blocks and attaching itself to the horizontal studs......also note mold patterns on the ceiling in the help!
@buildwithrise4 жыл бұрын
Oh no! I wonder what changed to cause humidity coming up through the foundation. Might a space heater/dehumidifier combination help? The heat might help evaporate the water and allow you to run a dehumidifer.

I am currently dealing with it right now. It’s everywhere! Under my bed, around the bed, inside my dressers. The worse thing is I actually smell it and gets headaches from me. I can only imagine the effect of it on my little guy. My little guy who is not even 1 yet is always getting what seems to be a cold. I would treat the cold with natural medicine but it comes back again. I am tired of it and don’t know what yo do. My entire house is carpeted, and we live in the furnished basement. Can you please help?

Get the heck out of there! Or get rid of that carpeting and clean that mold up! That poor kid doesn't stand a chance. Once mold gets in your lungs you'll likely have a chronic problem for the rest of your life. But even worse is putting that poor child in constant danger of permanent lung damage!

Can mold be permanently removed from a basement? I have a partially finished basement but for some reason mold came in down there I do have central air but I'm concerned because the air was off and that is when the mold came so in winter months how will we keep the mold down if we don't have the air on but we have the heat on sometimes I don't want the air on because I'm cold but I fear turning it off because of the mold how do I help the situation

Wash with white vinegar, dry with heat in the dryer and you can hang the clothes outside on a sunny day (Inside out so the sun doesn't fade the fabric). Clean the closet and keep its door open.

Laundry stripping. I even ordered TSP that I include and use boiling water. Look up any video on laundry stripping. Borax, vinegar, a laundry baking soda, oxyclean, hydrogen peroxide, dawn dish soap and I use a bit of tsp. Throw it all the bathtub with hottest water. I did with half boiling water. For smaller items esp cleaning rags or mops I just put all this in a big pot and boil for a while. Rinse then wash in washing machine and use sanitize option or hottest setting on dryer. Also make sure laundry is never laying around in piles. I also randomly spray alcohol on and around clothes hanging in the closet to kill spores. I've had a nightmare white mold that bleaches then makes a hole. Had to throw away a lot of shoes that were too far gone.

@@erulisseisilme4373 I use HG mould spray and it works like the OP described. No scrubbing needed, just spray and it’ll disappear in minutes. I do have to go round every couple of months in my mould problems areas in the house, so I’m looking to introduce ventilation. I don’t usually get any colds after spraying it, but it is bleach based so be careful with any upholstery or clothing as you’ll get bleach stains from the spray.
