This has by far been the most effective learning video for making a mold. Not only did you show the entire process, but you showed me multiple mistakes that I feel like I learned so much more from. Thank you!

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I figure it's better to show mistakes than to pretend they just didn't happen since it could be helpful to see

Do you need a release agent when casting Monster Clay in Plaster?
@BioCosplay7 ай бұрын
It's not 100% necessary, but I've found it demolds a little bit easier if you coat it in a clear coat first. I like to use Modge Podge spray acrylic sealer. Even if you don't clear coat the clay first, it'll still come out of plaster. You may just have to spend a bit more time with clean up.

I have a typical plastic Halloween face mask that I am in love with. As it's aged, I've been looking everywhere for a new identical one as a replacement, yet cannot find one anywhere. I am wondering if there is anyway of making a mold for a mask like that?
@BioCosplay Жыл бұрын
It would depend on what material the mask is made out of. I would email Smooth-On and they may be able to advice you on what would be best to us. www.smooth-on.com/ OR if you happen to have a local Reynolds Advanced Materials, they may be able to help as well if you take the mask in and show them. www.reynoldsam.com/
Sure! I can't guarantee when, but I do want to sculpt more in the future and I plan on filming it!

Can i use liquid silicone that creates mold and use that liquid to make a halloween mask?
@BioCosplay Жыл бұрын
For casting a silicone mask, something like Dragon Skin or Ecoflex may work better Stan Winston School has some videos on casting a silicone mask that may be helpful. www.stanwinstonschool.com/tutorials/silicone-mask-making-part-3-casting-and-demolding Dragon Skin - www.smooth-on.com/product-line/dragon-skin/ Ecoflex - www.smooth-on.com/product-line/ecoflex/ If you aren't trying to cast a full head mask, then liquid latex or creature cast may work depending on what you're trying to do.
