Great interview! I loved the insight on why they’re approaching the research the way they are and the theory behind what’s causing this dysregulation. Also glad the “crash” was mentioned. That’s such an odd phenomenon. These researchers really care about this issue. This should give a lot of people hope for the future!

Does finasteride bind to the alpha reductase enzyme or the androgen receptor itself on the cell? Its a competitive inhibitor, how does one detach the bonds from the AR/cell?

If you sequence the DNA and the drug altered the DNA how do you know what the original gene was before the introduction of the drug?

Very good interview though one statement I often hear annoys me a lot! These are NOT RARE CASES of PFS-SYNDROME!!! I suspect that about 5% (if not even more!) of this drug users are affected and suffer in silence! So if 1 Million take Finasteride, that would be 50'000!!! men affected!!! This is not rare by any means!

I actually spoke to the PFS doctor who ran the Baylor Study Dr. Mohit Khera from Houston. He said it’s closer to 15%

I agree.....an online outfit promoting finasteride pointed towards 1000 people worldwide with PFS. The sooner claims like that are smashed/abolished the better.

Anyway women are also affected by the exact same condition from the use of SSRIs, so it makes one wonder if the AR is as relevant there too. In any case these charities should be fund-raising even more heavily, we won't get anywhere with 100.000 dollars a year. Nowhere.

Like Dr. Alfonso was saying, the over expression of androgens in the receptors can cause problems all over the body, considering these androgens are all over the body, and the length of time the drugs was taken, as well as the dose, maybe the body got used to the drug being there and maybe once it was gone it helped clear up some symptoms but then sent the androgen cells all over the body into a haywire of problems? This may be an explanation to the crash? I dont know, im just making an educated guess
