This chemistry video tutorial provides a basic introduction into molecular orbital theory. It describes the formation of bonding and antibonding molecular orbitals from the combination of atomic orbitals. It explains how to calculate the bond order of homonuclear diatomic molecule as well as heteronuclear diatomic molecules. It also contains examples and practice problems of homonuclear and heteronuclear molecular ions.

“Think of electrons as waves” Instantly has epiphany on why people always say bonds store energy/are on higher energy levels. 4 years of chemistry and it only took 1 minute of this video for me to put that all together I love this channel

@@jasminemichael3654 Quantum mechanics tells us that we can treat electrons (and other subatomic particles) as both particles and waves. This is called wave particle duality. When learning chemistry, we are often introduced to electrons as tiny particles, but this limited view makes some concepts very difficult to understand. For example, it is hard/impossible to describe electrons as having higher energy levels, or having constructive/destructive interference if we only think of them as particles, and not waves. By looking at them as waves, those concepts become clear. (Destructive interference is just the peaks and troughs of the waves cancelling out, for instance).
