An overview of the MOLLE II Medium Rucksack. Made by: BAE Systems Specialty Group USA.
This is the U.S. Army's current "medium" sized pack for soldiers deployed to Afghanistan. It features upgrades from the smaller "Assault" pack and the larger "full size" rucksack. The pack is well suited for 5-7 day patrols in a combat zone, as well as a weeks camping trip in the woods...which is how I use mine. It is MOLLE compatible. The pack features standard PALS webbing on every available surface. This pack offers a great amount of modularity and customizability that todays military equipment is known for.
PACK SPECIFICATIONS:
3000 Cubic inches of internal usable space
60 lbs max load capacity
Dimentions: 21.00" x 18.00" x 10.00"
Pack weighs 5.75 lbs empty.
1000 Denier Cordura nylon fabric
Color: OCP ( Operation Enduring Freedom camouflage pattern)
YKK & self healing zippers
Quick release buckles on shoulder straps
MOLLE compatable PALS ladder system
Drag handle
Internal straps in main compartment used to hold the ASIP/RT1523 series radio
External flexable frame specially designed for use with the IOTV
Waist belt with SRB closure, attaches to frame with buckles & Velcro
Water drainage holes designed to limit dirt & sand
1 large main compartment: 2 large internal nylon pockets & hydration/ radio divider
2 outer compartments:
Top compartment: internal organiser for 3 pens & notebook & D-ring
Lower compartment: 4 large internal nylon pockets & D-ring

My new pack arrived today. It was expensive, but I'm the buy once crye once type. Fitment with body armor is great. Now I have to get gear organized. Gear review, if I would have found this earlier I wouldn't have waited so long to buy it.

It's a really nice pack Ray...I will be using it on my next outing...to test how it works for me. My impression so far, it's a keeper! But it's functionality in the field for what I do still remains to be seen. Thanks for watching my friend!

Not trying to nitpick but It’s actually just Operational Camouflage Pattern, the OEF-CP you were talking about was the FRACU “multicam” pattern that was out before the OCP ACU change, informative video though I enjoyed it thank you

That's about right for one of these...They are very pricey for what they are. That's because they are made by "BAE Systems" rather than Specialty Defense...that usually makes our packs and pouches. I have to say though, they are well made...and probably worth the money. My pack I show in the vid was used in Afghanistan for a year with my Son-in-Law. I've had it for about 2 yrs now. It shows no sign of wear or any parts needing replacing.
@ArmyStinger150

The pack is an "intermediate" size that the Army saw was lacking, with the large ruck being too large & the Assault pack too small. Yes the straps are for attaching it to the large ruck.

I saw one of these last week at my local Army/Navy store for $250. I would love to have one, but it is a bit pricey. I'm good for now with my Tactical Tailor rig. Awesome and informative video as usual, my friend! Blessings!

D ring in top front pocket is for your high priorities. Things that you would need to get to with no searching required. Attach them to a clip and attach. That's what I assume anyway I do this with any D ring's inside of my packs if I don't have room on my person for such items.

Very wise. We used "dummy cords" on sensitive items when I served in the Army. We had a few instances where a GPS was lost...and we ended up staying in the field for an extra few days until it was found.

Love it! Something I don't know. What do you mean when you talk about the zippers being "self healing"? Also did you find adding your shelter items to it to be difficult? Thanks man.
@ArmyStinger150
@ArmyStinger150 10 жыл бұрын
They are self healing because of the way they are constructed. We all know that zippers can and will pull away and be open on either side of the zipper itself...these will not do that, and if they did manage to, you can get them back together easily...unless they are totally broken. When I figured out the bungee cords and how I wanted to attach everything it just came together! I'm able to get my tarp, bed net, and blanket into the pack...so all I had to attach to the outside is the pad, tripod, and folding seat. If I had a sheath for my Hawk, I'm sure I could easily attach it to the outside as well. I have a new Hawk...the S&W E&E Tomahawk...which I did attach to the outside of my pack for my last river trip.

THEKINGOFMETROPOLIS It's not just this pack...anything with the "Multicam (OCP) pattern" fades rapidly. I'm not really sure why. But the Army's version of Multicam seems to fade throughout the whole line of gear they produce.

How well does the frame work to keep the pack off of the middle of your back to get air circulation? I know I'm asking lots of questions and again, I thank you for your help.
@ArmyStinger150
@ArmyStinger150 10 жыл бұрын
The frame was designed to allow for wearing a plate carrier...so it is very nice while using it without one, it does a great job with airflow for what it is, and with the way the waist strap is attached, it is very comfy. It's one of the most comfortable packs I've used...as far as military packs go. And I've used a lot of rucksacks in my day.

I really like the pack but not having compression straps plus the ocp pattern are big negatives to me. Im currently moving from alice pack and pouches to molle pack and pouches and I want it to match. That said its way better than any civilian pack ive seen but maybe not as good as the filbe. Im also more interested in a two piece system than a one size fits all pack. At least with a two piece I can potentially salvage some gear if say the pack splits or if I have to gtfo of the current area for whatever reason. Regardless I hope you enjoy the pack :)
@ArmyStinger150
@ArmyStinger150 9 жыл бұрын
The FILBE is a great pack. The Army does have the large Ruck as well, that can be paired with the Assault pack, separate sustainment pouches, and the waist pack. For me, I don't need a large ruck like the FILBE or the Army's full system. I can get away with using either the assault pack or the medium ruck. Whatever you choose, the MOLLE system is a huge step forward, I would never go back to using an ALICE type pack. Thanks for watching.
@A7Guitar

Yup im definitely getting the army molle 2 large rucksack for sure. My only problem is figuring out to even out the weight on both sides for the large ruck as well as the assault pack I already have. Its basically going to be ifak on one side and 1 quart canteen with canteen cup on the other so definitely a bit of weight difference but hoping I can figure something out. Although if you have any tricks for that if you wouldnt mind sharing that would be very much appreciated. :)

@ArmyStinger150

It is adjustable to an extent. There's definitely enough play so the frame is high enough to be comfortable on long ruck marches. But, the frame was designed to facilitate the wear of body armor. So keep that in mind.
