great to be able to watch this race ... would be even better if the cameraman was aware he's not supposed to be recording trees, but runners ...

They apparently had no feed from the chase cameras which were supposed to supply like half of the footage, so they did what they could with what they had functional, and remained professional.

Outstanding coverage by the NCAA. Mostly shooting empty sections of the course, fans running around, and the commentators. Why bother having the leading cart with a camera if you are not going to use their footage?

The wireless cameras crapped out on them. Don't know who the "play by play" guy is but one can't get better credentials than 2 time NCAA champ Bob Kennedy aka "The White Kenyan." They had to wing it quite a bit with the lead pack camera failing so I am sure the script was trashed.
@DanJacoby624 жыл бұрын
Still, at the very least they could have reported on the actual race rather than chatting about inanities so much. How much homework did they do? Did they know more than about six of the runners' names? Also, not to demean Bob Kennedy's college athletic prowess (because it was excellent), but being a topflight athlete isn't necessarily a credential for being a broadcaster.
@bob_o_baby8264 жыл бұрын
@@DanJacoby62 They... couldn't... see... the race. Unless someone was radioing in lead changes, they were shooting blind. Also, even if they had a list of names and bib numbers, the bibs weren't visible from most of the angles.

Imagine if women weren’t made to believe or encouraged to literally dress in underwear for these things. And please no more ”it’s to run faster”, then how come you don’t see men in these tiny little underwear panties?! It’s degrading! There aren’t even leaves on the trees, and super cold and still basically no clothes. Look at other athletes who run and they manage just fine to get good times and still wear appropriate clothing. Messed up mentality that people keep entertaining.
@Trancefreak124 жыл бұрын
It's not degrading; it's just some skin on the leg. Calf skin or thigh skin, why does it matter? People should just stop worrying about what athletes are wearing. Athlete women already have to deal with body shaming and body image issues. Also, when you're running at max effort in a cross country race, nothing above freezing temperature is cold. You will feel warm no matter what.
@steveoconnor70694 жыл бұрын
I don't know where or when the briefs started but I can tell you most of the fans and runners don't care about that they are there to see the event.
@lancastergerard4 жыл бұрын
If it were ‘super cold’ they would have hats, arm sleeves and gloves. They wear them because they feel faster. Guys don’t wear bikini bottoms to the beach or as underwear and hate wearing split shorts. Get over it
@davidyang12074 жыл бұрын
just a guess, but maybe the reason that men's running shorts are a little looser and longer is for some extra "private space?" Hands are really the only part of the body that gets particularly cold on a cold run. That's why half of these runners are wearing gloves. It was around 10 degrees Fahrenheit on the day of my high school new englands xc race. We were warm for a good hour and half AFTER the race with just our singlets, shorts, and gloves.
