Gail Carriger is a steampunk author who has worked octopodes into her novels quite handily. Also, if I am not mistaken, "Po po" is Japanese for "octopus," so referenced in a Super Mario Bros. Handbook for the NES.

Pinch the little bumpy part it should pop off. Keep your finger on the smooth part and then pinch it all at the same time together. Then it all comes off.
