This one didn't come out as i had planned. But that's OK! i had fun making it and learned a few things. If i try again, i will swipe from one focal point outwards. Love the colors, but the composition left me wanting more!

I still LOVE how this turned out. None of mine seem to ever come out as planned. I'm starting to learn to go with it, and not judge it too much until it's been a few days haha. Your color selection is always so great.

I understand what you mean. I love your controlled swipe technique, it sustained abstraction while teasing the mind to identify objects. You know? What's the word*... Minds will do that😊 You for sure didn't ruin it, Molly! I like the impasto, its startling without taking over🎉❤❤ I'd make it maybe 25% less dense, that's just me tho; I would definitely keep it.❤❤❤ *pareidolia

I love the flow of the swipes! I also love the idea of the leaves, but I think the impasto technique was too heavy with the soft flow of the ‘petals’. I always love watching you work though so don’t change a thing! ❤

Hmmm I think I prefer it when you stretch, I feel like that would have made the colours brighter and less muddy, and would have pushed the blunt starting points off to create a finer effect. Having said that, I love the colour combo, and am in awe of your creativity, I would love to get brave enough to try this for myself

I like it....but would have stopped a bit sooner. The additional dark green at the bottom is overwhelming to me. I would have tried a medium green in small swipes up . I love that you experiment and that you're open to sharing that with us! Thanks!

Sorry Molly, this was OK before you added the bottom part. What happens with that is that the eye focuses on the dark bottom and misses the delicate fronds reaching up. I suggest that when you try your controlled swipe again, that you swipe up in diagonals, more in a "v" shape from the bottom. Sort of like the way Rinske Douna does hers, instead you are swiping and getting lacing instead of brush strokes.

Honestly, Molly, I was rooting for this one. It ended up giving me sort of 1973 color vibes and after they got muddied a bit (a little too much brown and olive tones in places, from my perspective) I think if you had chosen a base color for each upward leaf to dominate that one leaf (with supporting colors in lesser amounts) that started heavy at the lower edge of the canvas, then did a gentle swipe that starts a little bit beyond the edge of the canvas, it would have given each leaf a rooted effect that then lifted upward with gentle lacing going into wispies to complete the movement. Make five fronds, each with its own dominant base or start them all with a deep green or purple or indigo and let them flow upward…? I’m seeing lovely watercolor effects in my head but they just need to be rooted and growing from the canvas’ lower edge, imo. I’m also seeing this technique done over an ocean colors base instead of white to mimic underwater plant life, maybe with some lovely coral effects as accents. Just my thoughts…thanks for creating so many lovely things. Love your work!

Love this idea and concept. I wonder if you had puddled more in the center and brought the fan tails (for lack of better word) out more from both ends, in order to achieve the end that you like, more on both ends?! I loved the original painting more than with the impasto paint at the bottom, although the leaves at the bottom are really interesting. I always LOVE your videos Ms Molly Wolly! You didn't ruin it! I LOVE it! IT REMINDS ME OF THE BOTTOM OF THE OCEAN! CORAL REEF AND SEAWEED! Something like that!:) Im super proud of ya for not over pouring too! Just twice! lol. I'm heavy handed as well so I get it! OH HEYYYY! I wanted to tell ya that you should pick up a BACK SCRATCHER! Yesss! A friend of mine, (Ang from Dizzyfish Art) uses a back scratcher sometimes and it gives some awesome effects! Kinda like the head scratcher but smaller! lol. I am gonna use one I picked up soon. You could use yours along with the head scratcher! :) Them 2 together could make for some really cool details. I really Loved this piece! Always love watching you make a painting come to life and you never fail to make me smile & laugh girl! It makes my day and makes me feel like I'm chillin with a friend... painting together...I talk back 2 ya like your right here with me! lol!:) TBH, That bottom part prob would have bothered me too and I love the impasto! Texture makes me drool! haha! I know, I'm so weird! Ah well! LOL! Sending you lots of love, hugs, and good vibes!! You ARE THE BEST Molls!;) Seriously!!!! xox P.s. I wanna do a WHOLE painting with nothing but a million (maybe not a "million" lol but a BUNCH) of only smaller controlled swipes... with SO many different colors! Now THAT would be SUPER COOL! Well, now it's on my do to list with the gazillion others that fly into my head when I am painting or watching other ppl paint! Just like you said you come up with diff things too as you paint! YOU get it!;) lolol!

I Love watching your videos…and the ones like this are Especially interesting & inspiring! I Luv this piece… my Favorite is more of the top part where it’s more flowie ( if that’s a word..lol).. and gives a lighter vibe The bottom feels a lil too heavy. However, I Know I’d Never be able to create such a Fabulous piece off the top of my head the Very 1st try!! I agree too that Different colors would have given off a better vibe I’d Love to see one with colors that compliment each other better.. like silver, black & some vibrant color …. Or all one color but different shades. But, NO Matter What you do…it turns out AMAZING!!! You’re such a Joy to watch!!! I’m always excited to see a new one pop up…. I think I’m even going to go thru ur videos and visit some older ones I’ve not seen yet!! Sorry for the Novel 😵‍💫….but I get going and just have So much I want you to know that your viewers ( I Know I speak on the majority) LOVE you…your Art, you Fabulous personality and your demeanor…You’re Top Notch!!! 👍🏼❤️

I saw a “Symphony of Birds”. & even a bit of dancers… I love the colors & what you were going for… the impasto seems a little heavy/dark for me, but that may be the lighting. I love that didn’t stretch the swipes!! I have been hoping you would do one like this!!! Keep experimenting, I am learning so much from you!!! 12 days until my move!! I LOVE all your work. EVERY video I have watched has been a hit with me...except this one. BUT, you were experimenting and artists do that to grow & explore! SO, I applaud your creative process & will enjoy watching you turn this new idea into something beautiful, as that is what you do. What I wasn't liking was the green leaves w/this particular piece. You were trying to fix that area, it wasn't quite right. The leaves are cool, but imo only, they became too solid/hard for the free-flowing wisps. I have no ideas to help but find most artists just need to keep creating & one day, boop!, there's your answer! My dream is to some day own just a teeny tiny piece of yours because you are That Amazing of an artist to me. Until that day comes true, please keep posting videos because we all enjoy them so, so much! 😊

I think the bottom is too dark drawing your eye to the bottom. J Mo has been using 'fire quartz' (think that's what its called) definite would have a softer effect. I liked what you had originally. They remind me of kelp/seaweed swaying in the water. Another option is to have them anchored to watery looking rocks. You're doing great ❤

I think more smaller swipes at the bottom. flowing up to fill in the gaps and crossing each other. Those needed to look like they were flowing off the canvas without actual flowing. At the very bottom. Just like you did at the sides. (You have the right idea, but the dark green affect is too much. It cuts the painting into sections and just doesn't belong. It's too abrupt. Or a lighter green as someone below mentioned.) Maybe if the colors swirled or curled around each other at the bottom. Something to give it more flight or flicker like wings or flames.

Love u experimenting 😍😍. Such beautiful cells. I agree the bottom didn’t work so well. I wonder if u hadn’t swiped the bottom parts as the colours seemed to just emerge out of the white? Yes I prefer ur stretched ones too! But if u just do what u know u don’t grow and develop more which is what’s so fun about watching u. Such a great artist to keep on experimenting. Oh and when the last couple swipes started to overlap it looked more 3d love it and wanted u to keep going and add more over them!

Hi Molly, This one is tricky because I, like you, liked the top swipes but thought the bottom was the problem area. Sadly, I'm not sure I like the leaves either! I think they're a bit heavy as the rest of the painting is somewhat ethereal. I love the colours but personally would have liked a bit more of the magenta colour. I so enjoy your experiments and I wonder if you had scraped the bottom bits and tried again there it may have worked better? Hope you don't mind my comments. 🥰

Maybe try it again like this, but just stretch the bottom of the canvas and dont tilt in all directions? And maybe orange and purple not next to eachother for it makes more brownisch colour from a distance. Beside that. Love it! Always love to see your videos❤. You are a very sympatic person.

Did you try hanging with the imposto (forgive the spelling) on top may give the effect of the leaves flowing down out of the imposto. I like both techniques. Beautiful colors. I use the three day rule on paintings I'm not happy with.

Try this concept on a canvas that is 18 inches by 3 or 4 or more feet long. Start your swipes a little more into the colors, and then do a reverse swipe so the swipes go off both ends. Then work with the rule of odd numbers 3,5, 7, and 9 but less is better. Actually, add your color pours not in the middle, but not at either end either. I think it would be super cool done in pinks, fuchsia, purples, and maybe a blue color. The other way would be to put your color puddles down in a half circle, as in the first color of each line of puddles is next to the other but in a concave pattern, and the other color lines all fan out from each other. In this format, you would swipe out in more fanned directions and then you could even weave them back through or over each other as you swoop the swipes across the canvas. That way you might get a cool-looking flower-like design, but abstract. I have a bad cold, so none of this may not make any sense.

I would never tell someone they "ruined it", that is just rude. I actually really like the controlled swipes you've done here! While you were doing it I kept thinking they reminded me of sea kelp swaying in the water, there is definitely good movement! The bottom was looking "off" to me, too. In my minds eye I wanted to see it more anchored at the bottom, more solid. I see what you were going for with the addition of the green leaves but I think it looks a bit too heavy for how light and airy the rest of the painting feels. Only my 2 cents though Molly. I love watching your work and I like that you are not inhibited to try something new!

I think Molly if you remember to anger your leaves. decide which is the bottom and make the paint heavy and wider there you would be more happy.. If you don't anger then the designs are visual floating. Sometime that is what you want. but when hang vertical pieces that have and upward flow they turn out a little more appealing. I loved the color paint and the flow of color through the leaves!!❣

I loooooove the top half. And the wispy tendrils, omg. The part I'm stuck on is that there are the 3 big swipes which are almost the exact same size and shape, and all going in the exact same direction. I just wanted to take my hand and swipe those bottoms in different directions, or else have them meet in a point. The top 2 that meet up to "kiss"...perfection.

I found the impasto too dense. When you said leaves I pictured longer strap leaves and a bit lighter colour, mingling between the swipes - perhaps green on green drags with the side and tip of the palate knife to create thick and thin, shadow and highlight. I'm curious how this might look with the impasto too.

I loved the original, before you added the leaves. I loved the movement and the colors. It looked like dancing, swirling colorful smoke. Which is not to say you ruined it with the leaves. It's your art. You decide what to do with it. ❤ I wonder if the reason I liked it so much but it left you wanting more is because you were thinking, "I'm painting birds-of-paradise flowers", while I was just watching what you were doing with the colors with no expectations. So I saw something there, but you didn't see what you were hoping for and kept wanting it to be that. (That's something I struggle with a lot myself.)

I understand you didn't want to tilt, but that may have helped the bottom part. To tilt some of that off. Although I love the leaves you added to the bottom you could add a little of the green that's in the painting to those leaves to bring them out more. This experiment was a great lesson to learn. We all make mistakes, but that's how we learn. At least for me it does. I love the over all concept, but kinda think other colors may have worked better. Hope this helps.

I prefer this painting without the harsh dark leaves at bottom. The flowing airiness about it is beautiful. Maybe adding more small puddles on the bottom & using your blow dryer to create some blooms going upward? 😊

Molly, I think this is a nice painting. I do agree with you that the bottom part of the painting is too heavy and it doesn't appear to be balanced. I don't think the leaves go with the painting. I love the way the colors blended. I think metallic colors would really pop.

Molly this one actually has a naked lady in the middle 😁 I think this painting is actually pretty darn cool, because it’s very different and unique

Add detail with a paint brush. Outline with black maybe in some places or another color, gold. Just some thoughts

It was so delicate and pretty befire you added those leaves at the bottom. The movement moved si gracefully from the bottom to the top, but the leaves are a terrible color and draw the eye away from the movement of the piece. Sorry, Molly, it is a huge disappointment.

Learning is what’s important! I love it when you stretch better, and I feel like a lot of these colors got brownish. It’s interesting though!

It's cool. Maybe kinda lightly brush the dark leaves with a lighter color. That way, you can see the darker and lighter color.

This is just a comment, I dislike the “inpasto”. The swipes are interesting. But the balance is likely found in swiping side then from the other side: all the weight was on the one end.

After you got to the end, I would have tilted it a little. I really like your experiments. The bottom orange bothers me a little but I don’t know why. some

Love the swipes Try a lighter color on the bottom. I think you are right, needed something. But tilting may have lost all the pretty swipes. I love that you try new things. Keep it up

The middle part truly looks like a body. Top, ribs, thigh with a horse racing hat. Or it could be those sugar crystal things in a container.

Molly, I definitely get birds of paradise colors, and I get underwater vegetation! Didn’t you hear me tell you this is really coming together! I think it is beautiful! Maybe you can try a light color background.

@deborahpagtalonia3775 okay. I see what you mean. Like soft yellow or beige or very light gray. That could work, I think. Then the negative space might not look so "intimidating." 🫠

I love swipe the technique. I’m not sure of the green leaves down below. If you painted the leaves it may look motor natural.

I’m noodling in my head with something similar. I want to have a lot of negative space and/or space with just the base and the swipe color but I keep thinking that means I don’t stretch and my favorite part of a swipe is the stretch. Noodling on I go….

Honestly I think you could have just anchored the bottom more to the edge instead of adding the green leaves. But I'm a pastel artist and thats what we do as it gives it more balance

How about dry brushing some lighter green over the tips/outer edge of the leaves. Something that would tie them into the painting. Just a thought😊

It not a failure. The only place I would have changed would be on the bottom right orange color and just added another paint color drops and then swipe.
