For anyone wondering, the reason it doesn't burst into flames is the water in the burger immediately vaporizing on contact with such high heat, creating an insulating layer of steam between the copper and the burger. The pickle is the most wet, meaning it has more protection. There's an episode of Mythbusters where Adam puts his wet hand into molten lead and it is protected by the same thing. Copper is an excellent heat conductor so it's temperature after reaching the air rapidly cooled, meaning it was no longer hot enough to do whatever we think 1085C should do. In metalworking we use copper to draw heat away from things so they don't melt or burn.

+Anthony Trinh As someone else said Leiden-Frost effect. Think of it this way: the water at the surface of the meat flashes to steam, right? That actually creates an insulating layer, it's why a drop of water skitters and sizzles on a frying pan instead of just flashing to a whiff of steam in one go. It's why you can soak you hand in water, and dip it VERY FUCKING QUICKLY into molten lead (which you still should never do!) and it can be withdrawn unharmed.

+Lanfear27 yes, but in that scenario, the skillet is hotter than the droplets of water. this is how the Leidenfrost effect works. the vapors coming from the surface of the repelling object is hotter than the liquid being introduced if the Leidenfrost effect is to occur. For example, we know warm water droplets hop across a hot skillet, but what happens when hot water droplets are poured onto a warm skillet? the water is hotter than the surface it is coming in contact to, and does not evaporate to create the protective layer.

The reason why the molten copper falls off the hamburger is because of moisture. If you were to dip your hand in water and then dip your hand in molten copper right after the same thing would happen. You can search for this on KZbin, there are plenty of videos explaining it. This video is intentionally misleading by trying to show McDonald Hamburgers as somehow so bad for you that they even resist molten copper. The power of science explains why this is the case though.

Not sure what the point of this vid is. You'd get the same result from a home made tofu burger with home baked bread.. Either Tito4re has some agenda against McDonald's or he's just poorly educated and think this proves something about the food(other than the fact it proves it contains moisture).
