I need to whip my rack into shape for the forthcoming Synth East. I had planned to do this last week, but a cold and new puppy got in the way. So, I am slightly wrecked, sleep-deprived and time poor but I need to get into this, so, here we are :D

Fellow new puppy owner here. I have found that what I do is never shut the dog in its crate and instead put the crate inside a puppy pen, i also have a soft pillow bed in the pen as well, then i puppy proofed the room with hardwood planks and leave both the crate and the pen door open but the door to the room closed, also leave toys on the floor and water out. Pup can go wherever it wants in that room and take itself to bed in the puppy pen, drink water and play with toys as it wants. this way i get about 30seconds crying when i leave the room then the pup is fine alone. I go back in every 2 hrs as i work at home and take pup out for toilet then feed lunch at mid day. I am able to work in my office through the day doing this. Maybe it will work for you too. At night i only shut the puppy pen door so the dog can still move around the pen, access water, sleep on the soft pillow bed or go back in to the crate that also has a pillow in, i get no crying at all at night now. Personally I dont think its fair to lock the dogs in the small crate.

Robin, have you looked into the Noise Engineering "Confundo Funkidos" four-part probabilistic rhythm crossfader? Seems like it might suit you for mixing different rhythm patterns.

Drums definitely through the Echo Cinematic on "Ping Pong" mode. I would use the new larger Kick Drum Module too. That small 1U Kick has no effect, no punch at all and you NEED a good sounding Kick when using Modular Synthesis. The larger Kick Drum Module has SO much more sound capabilities and it has 3 sliders to control different styles of Kick Drum so you can get exactly what you want which for you is something that's more in the background, not loud and on top of everything however, you still need to have a proper sounding Kick going on to hold the rest of your Soundscape together. All of your Modules sound great together as you shared your ideas and thanks for posting this as I wasn't able to attend the live version. Being a Drummer on an actual Kit as my main instrument then getting into Modular Synthesis as well, I hope you understand why I believe in the importance of having a proper Kick Drum sound and FEEL when one is creating Music or Soundscapes using Modular Equipment. Oh, put that 1U module someone made for you called "Molten's Hole" in the empty space left over when you took out your other Module, it will fit PERFECTLY 😅💜❗️ YASSOU ~💥

Hay MM, I am new to the world of subtractive synthesis and I am thinking of buying an analogue mono synth for beefing up the low end on my recordings. I have a budget of £500, any advice for me?

Sure, if you want a traditional synth with a keyboard etc then look at the Bass Station II, Korg Minilogue XD or Behringer Odyssey. For something a bit more modular and interesting there's the Erica Synths DB-01, Dreadbox Hades, Erebus or Nyx, or Behringer 2600.

Couldn't the Rhodes you're talking about be done with Disting Ex using the multisample algorithm? You just need a set of Rhodes samples.

I have a VST from Arturia called VOX that has a few Rhodes sounds on it, not quite the same but good enough, so I think they do one that does that sound.

Yes, but the Disting Ex makes me want to punish everyone around me in order to share the pain of the interface. If I could be assured that it would start up with the right sound, and nothing would get accidentally changed and it existed as a sound source that was perminantly hardwired in, then yes, it would be a possibility. But if something changes, if it doesnt load, if i have to deal with that screen and interface during a live performance then i would rather burn my modular to the ground. I would rather use anything else.
