‘Provided you have control of your senses’ - ha! I thank you for the high expectation of me when I play with synths. You are kind.

Great review, thanks robin! Now I know a lot more about this little beast. I do like my Nymphes and this seems to be a bit in the same territory soundwise.

Very good review. I love Dreadbox, I began with the Hades mk1, few after I got the Nymphes. Dreadbox Goodness!!!

Hm.That's quite tasty. But imagine: with motorised faders, maybe the ability to map the ext in as a second CV input, and some behind the panel connections to allow a polyphonic setup where you have different menus open on different modules, all affecting the whole… (which would also let you do the voice count teach by pressing buttons on the modules at the two ends of the chain)!

That sounds like a very different product 😁

Thanks loads for explaining this module! I go a bit befuddled with it at Bristronica last year... makes sense now and sounds fab. I have the Doepfer A111-6 which is a fab little synth voice in the same space but this has more going on also has that wonderful Dreadbox sound. Another to add to the ever growing list!

Oh yeah, i played with it at Bristronica as well and it was a mad, weird thing that made no sense at all :D

All the Dreadbox modules in that series are clever and good value. I only have the Delay but they seem to offer a lot for the price and hp. Dreadbox could do a bland edition. All silver , all black. Some people don't want the multi colours.

I use mine as a 5 voice poly (+ the stereo fx) + 1 voice to add to my single vco microvolt 3900. Changing 1 or 2 voices a bit and playing 3 or 4 (not 5) note chords produces great round robins. Cheerio!

At £247 per module (€970 for the bundle), polyphony and multitimbrality doesn't come cheap. Setting them up might also be well like herding cats. Sounds great, but then I am easily impressed.
@MoltenMusicTechАй бұрын
Well, a single VCO can often cost that and you can pay a grand for a single synth voice in modules. So in terms of Modular I think it’s really good value.
@HeeBeeGeeBee392Ай бұрын
@@MoltenMusicTech Indeed, I guess I'm just a cheapskate - it can be an expensive hobby. I can't justify spending so much just to find out that it's not for me and have to sell it on. I'll stick with more economical, less versatile solutions until I see more reviews.

I might get one telepathy to try, I've got the the other eight chromatic modules (and the antiphon and lil erebus) and love them, except the colour of the euphoria, can't read a thing on the panel. I think my shopping list is: telepathy psychosis another euphoria (when they release the black panel version) oh, and the emphasis (if they ever properly announce it)

I really like the idea of this module/modules. It sounds beautiful, and I love the hybrid approach. (Midi/CV) I imagine you could also use some CV to midi modules (Disting Mk4) to hit multiple parameters with CV at once, without a larger MIDI controller. And then build the larger polyphonic system over time, as one’s budget might allow. All together, they sound quite complex. Imagine being able to piece together a Muse, or a Grandmother over time… Very cool.

I’d love a 5-voice bundle that gives you the option of adding another module like the Utopia or Ataxia modules for more depth.

On the nymph box, on live, in real time, you can be severely undermined due to the ambiguous interface. I see the same problem here.

As a polyphonic system it's hard to justify unless you want to simulate an oberheim four /eightvoice , but it seems the basic tone is a bit on the hard side to fit well polyphonic.

How do you mean sorry? Too expensive, not enough features?

First would be to invest in a keyboard with excellent midi cc capabilities, looking in to that, have some old synths that Will benefit from that too ...
