Moltres was already a solid UU Mon in gen 7. It is coming back in gen 8, but now it has some timbs. Excited on what happens then.

The lowest Moltres has ever been, at least in terms of tiering, is RU in gen 5, and it dominated that tier. Moltres, contrary of popular belief, has always been at least solid. Unlike Charizard and especially Articuno, who died at gen 4, Moltres was able to withstand the test of time.

Moltres is one of the only good fire types back in the early gens, in gen 1 its probably the best fire in OU which is saying smth cuz all fires are bad in that gen, in gen 2 its still the best fire in OU thanks to being able to 1v1 Lax with a sunny day set via raw power alone, which is rare in gen 2 outside explosions, its just OU in gen 3 and likely still the best fire in OU, and it has solid niches in OU in gens 4 and 5 and is solid in UU in every other gen, and is a top 3 RU mon in gen 5 and banned from it in gen 6. With HDB now a thing I personally think its gonna be in OU to stay, since its typing allows it to beat some very insane pokemon 1v1 and run a great defensive set, while also being naturally strong, for Zapdos theres no doubt.

Never got into DPP back in the day because it was too slow! These days when I emulate it at 2x speed it still feels like .................🐌 Showdown solves that nicely though so its super interesting to me to see these old metas! Even though the games are long, the gameplay is engaging and watching clefable die a slow agonizing death by suffocation was surprisingly satisfying.

Gen 7 moltres was also pretty fun. I ran a set with burn up and roost. More defensive. So it loses its fire typing and then loses flying typing during a roost
