No one made you lay down at 17 and have a child. How dare you make him feel like he is a burden. It was YOUR choice! You weren’t the only 17 year old back in the day. I’ve been out of my moms house since I was 17. I went to college and got my own and I can honestly say I feel if I would have been able to return home after college I’d be much more stable right now. Other race’s embrace having their children come home and save. They have whole down payments for home ownership saved instead of paying rent to the other race. Black parents are the main one’s encouraging kids to get their own after 18. I could’ve saved and avoided debt. I’m now working my ass off to repay student loans and bad financial choices. I will allow my daughter to stay home as long as she needs as long as she is working towards a goal.

21 year olds today are not ready to live on their own. I totally understand having your own space because I moved out at 19, but that was decades ago. You have to be mature emotionally, understand sacrifice, budgeting, and working a job even when you don't want to because you have bills to pay. To many young adult, shut even older adults, are use to someone bailing them out when a financial crisis comes. That's why colleges are offering adulting classes. Those classes teach things that adults didn't learn before leaving home. Things like budgeting, setting up accounts like lights/gas/insurance, types of accounts saving/checking, even still meals, etc.

I think the problem with our parents is they raise us with the notion that raising us is doing a favor, bringing us into the world is doing us a favor... a favor that we have to return by accepting and thanking them for every good AND bad thing they do to us... Same as when you start working, all of your money "HAS" to go to them because you're paying them back for being a parent... I'm struggling right now at 30, having to "take care" of my parents because they "took care" of me. And with everyday i question when will my life start... i didnt ask to be born... so i have to pay black tax because they did me a favor by giving birth to me. I don't have kids yet and I'm terrified of becoming the parent my child/ children need to heal from. This woman didn't give up her life for him... and that's where she's got it wrong.

I see what she was trying to say! Because I feel the same way my kids are from 31-18 and the other day I was on the phone with a man and my son pushed through my door acting like I’m cheating on him.. he is 24 and he is the only one lives at home with me.. damn he need to leave and get his life and let me live mine.. after I divorced I didn’t bring men around my kids so they never seen me with anyone but there father
