I think that the kids should be told about the unit and share the money with them. They should've looked into it but when your Mom dies it's really hard on you. They are going through a lot of emotions right now. I just lost my Mom and I almost lost who I was and mind. I had my kids and got my Mom's dog and that has helped me some. I still cry everyday, she was my best friend and always there. I helped take care of her because I couldn't put her in a home, she would have to decide that 1.I went over to her house and found her past away, it wasn't expected to happen and I want prepared for it like I was for my husband. He past away 3 yrs ago and we knew he was dieing. His legs were septic and wouldn't like them cut his leg off.I told him we would follow his wishes. He was in the hospital about a month and 10 days. Then he wanted to come home so we brought him home under hospice care. They came everyday for their visit and we're here maybe 2 hrs. The rest of the time I took care of him and watched him all day everyday. He was with us for 13 days and passed away. I still have his things because it's hard for me to let go. If my Mom had owned her house it'd probably be the same way. It was so much harder for me when she passed away. Idk why but it was and I felt lost, didn't want to let her go, felt like I was half of a person, my heart felt like it was ripped out and I felt like I couldn't go on without her. I was literally lost and not wanting to go on without her and I almost had a nervous breakdown. So I feel for them and that's what I feel they're going through. I think they should be told and given the opportunity to have so things and our part of the money because I feel like they're taken advantage of but that just me I guess.

After cleaning out her house, garage and possibly outside shed they were probably tired. If you've never dealt with this it can be overwhelming especially when dealing with loss of a parent as well. @@nana820able -- Excatly, watch any episode of hoarders where these "parents" chose to keep like 48 broken umbrellas over doing anything to help their kids with all the money they blow and buying and storing CRAP.... Trust me, in the end these kids would have been happy to put everything in a hole and explode it and watch it all burn!!! ... I collect stuff, I'm extremely carefull to trim everything down to one wall of stuff my selling and upgrading, so my kids will actually have an easy investment, not an overwhelming burden that ruined every hour of their lifes by having me put a bunch of stuff over thier needs.

Jimi Hendrix! My first ever live concert. Free at the Hula Bowl in Honolulu. However, you will have to check the dates on those albums. He died very young. I don't think all those albums existed before he died. The original ones, released while he was living will be worth the most. The rest are going to be remixes the record company made after his death. I hate that they do that. It's not right.

Some people would rather not go to all the trouble of cleaning out & sorting through a packed storage unit no matter how much the stuff inside was worth. I'm pretty much the opposite. Even if I just found one item that I really liked, it would be worth it to me. I love going through vintage & antique "junk". Even if there is no real monetary value, the look back through history is always interesting. I guess that is just the archaeologist in me 😉

If you live near the unit and have the time to go through it, I can see how it might be fun. But using your vacation leave, having to fly out and get a hotel room just to go through a storage unit filled with stuff that even your parent didn't have room for in their own house would be more than many people would be up for. It's not that they don't love their parent.

I used to work at a jewelry store. This is how you check to see if pearls are real. Rub the pearl against your front tooth . If you feel a gritty like sensation it is real. If it's fake you will feel a smoothness. A gritty sand like feel means the pearl is real. 💁‍♀️🤞🏼👍🏼

Except some parents will have an absolute meltdown if you start talking about sorting through, never mind getting rid of their things. I'm dealing with 3 generations worth of junk right now, trying to help my intellectually challenged uncle who ended up with this mess and a collapsing house, having convinced him to let me at least help him sort the trash from the heirlooms and store it, on the off chance that he may decide to move to an apartment before the house collapses. The post depression generation clung to everything, including plastic jewelry and christmas ornaments made of styrofoam meat trays.

Hi Mary-Ellen Your name popped out at me. It's my Momma's name she passed away in 2007 and I don't ever see anyone with your name. I do love watching these videos on sells of storage units. I worked at a storage unit company in the office and doing storage units Auctions. The only bad thing working there was I would end up with some fantastic things when people move out of storage unit and I get way to much things other than that It was a lot of fun to watch the people buy the units. I've haven't worked there for 15 years and one of the ladies that has had 16 storage units sizes 30ft X 50ft them before I started working there for 9 years and today she still has 31 storage units today. All she does is come back home to the State she grow up in for 2 times a year. Once for Black Friday day deals. (That's a day after Christmas & in June to see her friend's and never takes absolutely nothing back home with her to Georgia. she doesn't though anything away just gets more storage units. She tells us all the time she's going to move all to Georgia. My old boss and are friend's we just look at each other think she never going to move it. It just kills me that she comes back to her home town to shop the sales to save money and then turns around pays $300.00 on each unit. That's like $9,300.00 a month I respect it's her money to what she wants. I just think I sure could spend that kinda of money other ways. Go on Vacations, Hire someone to just my cooking only since I hate to 😂. I rather clean floor or toilets then cook. 😂 Sorry for so long of a comment

Sorry but it isn't right to judge and criticize the deceased owner of the storage unit or her kids. None of us know their situations and frankly it isn't anyone's business what and how much stuff she bought or why the kids aren't interested in any of it. When a relative of mine passed away we found stacks of items with tags or in their original boxes. She wasn't a hoarder and she didn't waste her money on compulsive shopping. They were the gifts that people gave her for birthdays and holidays over many years. She grew up in the depression and she would sometimes say that is so nice I'll save that for good. How about just examine the contents, clean out the unit, accept your good fortune, and move on to the next.

First I'd like to ask what was the final value of this unit? Second that looks like the retirement fund of a very, very shrewd woman.

Trying so hard not to judge those kids…but just look at your moms storage items when she dies?assuming that these items really mattered to her. Lots of REAL nice things.

Those little tiny plastic charms came out of crackerjack boxes. Kids would have a little cotton beanie that they wore and they added the charms to it as they ate their cracker jacks.

you all sound foolish with the records. by the $1.00 sticker on them all, they were resealed and sold in a second hand record store.

My Mom made some of the 3 faced porcelain dolls, so you might want to check the value of that doll.

I had the Barbi beach bus as a kid. I got it for Christmas as a kid in the 70s. That's going to be worth a lot of cash.

This was a great presentation until the rude and arrogant guy in the grey hoodie showed up, disrespected the host, and took over the show. I can’t watch this. I’m sorry , but your “friend” lost you a subscriber.

I wonder what the woman had at her home? I doubt this storage unit was all of it. The kids might have known roughly what was in the storage unit and just didnt want to deal with it. If they had no interest in this kind of stuff thats not hard to imagine, or again just didnt want the hassle of what these guys are doing.

The stuff their mother had could have belonged to a sibling and she felt too raw to deal with it, so put it in storage.
