Condoms have about a 10% failure rate with typical use. Statistically it's not surprising that there would be instances of split condoms as well as condoms that were forgotten "just once". UK sex ed at the time this was filmed prioritised condoms because they can prevent STIs. The safest thing to prevent pregnancy is to use a long acting reversible contraceptive like the arm implant, coil, or nuva ring, combined with condoms. But that wasn't talked about in schools at the time this was filmed.

sadly, they both knew what would cause a pregnancy and knew of all the risks. the fact she was only 15 is so sad and i understand at that age you do not make the most logical decisions but how wouldve this happened if properly monitored? i really hope they are a happy family but in most cases the father ends up leaving eventually because of how young they are. its really sad she really cant do anything outside of caring for the baby now instead of doing normal hobbies her age.

The second couple really made me mad - neither of them seemed to give a toss about the fact that they were about to have kids and clearly neither have any intention of letting it change their life and so it’s all going to fall on the mother. Chloe can’t even be bothered to put a load of laundry on to help her mother while she works all the hours she can to support the girl. That said as much as I would support my daughters if they fell pregnant, I would definitely be telling her that she is old enough to have sex, old enough to be having a baby soon then they need to grow up and start taking responsibility for things. The grandma wants parental responsibility (for obvious reasons) and the dad isn’t keen but the daughter “doesn’t care”. The entire attitude towards being a mother is just that of a stroppy teenager. I was a young mum too (fell with my first when I was 17) and I immediately was the most grown up and responsible person. I knew that I had to grow up to be a good mother and to be honest the way that I was headed before I fell pregnant, I always say that my son saved my life by forcing me to be responsible. I moved into my own place at 18 after he was born and my husband and I had all 5 of ours before I was 29 and we are still together 25 years on from the first baby. Some teen mothers are great - my daughters friend was 16 when she had her son 15 weeks early and she has been an amazing mother in a way I’ve seen mums far older than her struggle with. I’m not advocating for teen pregnancy but I would say that there are worse things that could happen to your child and some will be amazing mothers. The first girl seemed very grown up and both of the parents seem to be pretty good with their son despite being so young having him at 14.

For terminations when there is a life threatening health condition for mother or baby then termination is up to term. In the UK we don't have as many anaesthetists available for labour wards and their priority has to be for c section anaesthesia so it's still widespread option to have epidurals here but it's not always going to be guaranteed.

They may have to wait up to an hour if the anaesthetist is in theatre but they will still be able to get one. Maybe she just didn’t want one though - lots of people don’t. It seems an odd comment for OP to make to say that as though the only reason someone would stick with gas and air or pethidine/diamorphine is because they “don’t know epidurals exist” lol.

It's hard to tell from this whether Garry really is apathetic and useless and Lisa had good reason to want parental responsibility, or maybe Garry only seems apathetic because Lisa is pushing him out, and he would step up and get more involved if Lisa was less overbearing. We don't see the whole story from these, a lot can be edited out. Also parental responsibility in the UK is not the same as parental rights in the US. If Morgan was living with his mum and dad instead of his mum and grandma, then his mum and dad would have parental responsibility. Parental responsibility is about making decisions for the child, like making medical decisions for them at the doctor and applying for school and nursery places. I think it's reasonable given how young the parents are for one of the grandparents to have parental responsibility until both the parents are over 18 and feel mature enough to handle the paperwork and decision-making of parental responsibility.

Teenagers breastfeed less than Mums over 18 because they suffer the stigma of having a baby so young and often feel they'd be judged further for breastfeeding in public etc. It's also true that unplanned pregnancies are a shock and people have less time to do research on how to breastfeed successfully etc because you need to do your homework to know what to do to keep milk supply up etc.

It is illegal for them to be having sex under the age of 16 in the UK (I’m not sure where you are or the age of consent there) and so if the father is over 16 then yes it would be classified as statutory rape but if the father is the same age then it’s illegal for both of them to be having sex but neither of them would be considered rapists since neither are adults. My daughter is a year younger than you and has the same views you do of not even thinking about having sex (to be fair so is my 17 year old daughter) and it’s nice to hear you say that. Watching this makes you feel that all young girls are sleeping around despite being children and it’s good to know that you aren’t all that way. My daughter said one of the girls in her school year had sex with someone their first year in high school which is age 11 years old 😢
