A fairy emerged from the lake holding two axes. one made out of gold, and the other is the one he dropped. She asked which axe he dropped and the lumberjack answered that he dropped the wooden one. Because he was honest, The lake fairy give him both axes.

A Goddess appears with a gold axe and asks him if it belonged to him. He said it was not. Then a silver axe was shown, he also said it was not his. When the goddess showed the original old axe he says that is his. Due to his honesty and lack of greed for what didn't belong to him, the goddess rewards him with all three axes. When a different man found out, he tried to be greedy, then claiming the golf one to be his, but the goddess only returned his old one. 8:52 That's 5円 a Japanese Yen (coin) the hole in the middle is surprisingly useful. Back in the olde days a piece of string would go through the centre to keep them safe.
