I think there is no difference between Memon's and Gujrati's, both use same accent, most are businessmen and traders, both foods are super delicious. I live in Karachi and I know them in person both (Memon and Gujrati) because they are locals here.

Karachi was not part of Gujarat, as my parents also came from Karachi, in administration & educational terms, all came under the Bombay, while Gujarat & Maharashtra were one and were separated after independence. Yes in Sindhis and Gujaratis they (or rather we all), have lohana community, which in Sindhi, basically speaks a slit different Dialect of Sindhi and the Gujaratis Lohana speaks a slit different tone of Gujarati (Not Kutchi, which is all together different language), why am I telling you?, because I’m a Sindhi, born & brought up in Gujarat.

My Grandmother was from Karachi. She use to tell how their family brought gold during partition. The break gold and dip into besan and make bhajiyas. In this way they brought gold with themselves during partition. Rest of the assets were compromised!
