Everyone has their level of braveness/cowardness. Fredo/Gav/Geoff/Fiona = 0/10. Unanimous, the most easily scared, always screaming, always cowering. Trevor/Matt = 3/10. Get scared almost as easily but doesn't cower as much. Jack(when playing) 5/10. Just the fact that he immensely hates playing scary games and very rarely will puts him middle of the pack. Jeremy = 6/10. Doesn't jump as easily or as frequent and even though he'll still scream he still tries regardless of fear. Lindsay = 7/10. Lindsay (like Michael) yells from anger when scared but generally doesn't jump much or cower. Jack(when watching) = 7.5. When watching (like Lindsay) nothing really bothers him too much, however instead of anger he usually laughs. Michael = 10/10. Rarely jumps and never cowers... His experience of playing scary games makes him a Veteran. Like Lindsay he uses anger to defuse the fear but to a much greater scale(lol). Ryan = 11/10. Never jumps and never cowers; he laughs in the face of danger... Almost like he enjoys it...

It might be a technical limitation. I don't know of any video games that feature realistic secondary reflection or backscattering.

Like for fuck's sake, if you turn on a flashlight in a room, the whole room will be lit up, not a small circle you're pointing at. Not to mention there are few game "flashlights" that aren't sources of light coming from you but a circle in the middle of your screen that is lighter than the rest of the textures you're looking at.
