You’re definitely NOT “just a housewife”. You’ve introduced and lectured us about Japanese culture and food, showed us (and me personally) how to treat everyone with kindness and how to communicate with your family, and I’m thankful to have the opportunity to learn about it. Besides, I think lots of people underestimate the intensity of being a housewife and to take good care (physically and mentally) of your family. I would absolutely not be capable to do chores while holding a baby in my arms. This is some next level skills! Although I don’t really know how important it is to stay in character for the channel, but if you feel like showing us more about your daily life without the kimono, I personally wouldn’t have objections against it :)

turning just a housewife into something derogatory and accepting toxic masculinity's narrative is what's wrong, stop feeding into that shit. for everyone's sake.
@abbasturd4 жыл бұрын
My Japanese sensei told us that the term "housewife" or "shufu" is very fluid in Japan. In doesn't necessarily mean that she's a total housewife. Technically in Japan, women who have jobs and have a family are still being called housewives. It's just part of the culture. Kimono Mom is definitely a working housewife because of her job making KZbin videos, but she will still be referred to as a housewife.

Moe you are more than “just” a housewife. You are a cultural ambassador for your country, and an amazing parent. Also there is nothing wrong with being a housewife, it is hard work. There are even degrees now that teach you things that are essentially being a housewife. My mother had such a degree. She worked towards it to be able to teach persons these essential skills that you and many other housewives already have naturally. Lots of love from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹.

13:59 I don't think Moe said she is just a housewife is a put down on herself. In the context, she was discussing if she should continue to dress in nice Kimono outfit or everyday modern clothing. Moto and Moe both agreed a lot. That is Moe is not a celebrity and certainly her videos are not about her being a celebrity, so should she continue to dress in Kimono? Afterall, Moe's main videos are about teaching cooking, taking care of Sutan (being a housewife). Now, if Moe videos are about teaching Kimono, Japanese table manner, and tea ceremony, then it would make sense she dresses in Kimono. That is my understanding when she said: I am just a housewife as in I am sharing the life of a housewife, I am not sharing knowledge in tea ceremony or table manner.

It is very interesting to see how your holidays are celebrated. I love the idea of keeping the seasons and marking the turning of the year. I do so in a Scots/Irish or Celtic way. The interaction in your happy family is a joy to watch... Bright Blessings to you 🌾

It's really great that you're teaching her to help out at such a young age. Teaching kids to help out early is so important and such a good skill for them to learn. This way, when they're older, helping out won't seem like such a big deal.

Being a housewife/homemaker is one of the hardest jobs there is. Never downplay your role in running a home. Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, wiping, dusting, cooking, etc... none of those are picnics in the park!

Ahaha 😂 Moto san’s slightly panicked expression when you asked him, “do you know what day today is?” Love your channel so much! Thank you for the hard work you do to bring us these snapshots of your life 💛

That baby has the most beautiful smile. That means she's very loved. Absolutely adorable family.
I just saw one video of urs today and got addicted.. U reminded me the days with my toddler. I used to work like u.. Well my daughter is 5 year old now. I have a great respect for a "Housewife".. So please dont say 'just a housewife'. It is the hardest job ever. U both mother and daughter are so cute. U r a great mother. Ur daughter is very lucky. May God bless u and ur family.

Some of my predominant childhood memories is my mum singing is Swiss German while sifting flour. I bet Sutan is going to have memories like this. I bet when Sutan is old enough she won't even question helping mum with bags (something I only see a small minority of kids doing when they come into my work), or run out the door the moment their parents are at the register. Kids like Sutan are the reason people want to have kids. You are doing a wonderful job at turning her into a really remarkable human being like her mum!

This is my favorite video so far! I loved seeing your full kimono (without the apron) and seeing the small details of everyday life. Sutan impressed me with her independence! I would miss your recipe videos if they were gone. I like Moto's idea of 50/50!

I am watching this, almost a year later, and I am glad that you decided to start filming your everyday life, and I agree with Moto about the kimono and I’m glad you chose to stay wearing it for your videos. And being a housewife is important. Thank you for sharing your family with us.

It's funny how that moment when Papa (Dad) comes home, lasts for such a short time but is so looked forward to and filled with utter joy and excitement. Soon it won't be exciting at all. That is why this period of time is so special. I hope someday Sutan's daughter gets to see these videos.

Small fun fact about me, I am from the Netherlands so you have a fan from the other side of the world. (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ Actually why not make this thread so Kimono mom knows where her fans come from. It's so fun to see your everyday life as a mom but please keep in mind to have more time for yourself, Sutan and Moto! Ofcourse every fan of yours would love to see more of your daily life but family comes before our pleasure. Keep making awesome video's!!!!

You, your husband and Sutan are such a lovely family and beautiful people! I admire how graceful and kind you are. Raising a child must be challenging but you make it look easy. You’re a great inspiration for all parents out there! What I love most about you is that you’re proud of being Japanese and that you cherish your culture - because it is unique and beautiful just like you! I’ve watched other Japanese vlogs but it makes me feel a bit sad to see all these women only using Westen brands, from kitchen knives to cosmetics and bag or clothes. Japanese culture has so much to offer. Foreigners (including me) pay horrendous sums for this kind of craftsmanship because it is authentic, real, made with care by hand. I find it sad that many young Japanese people can’t see the value of Japanese things anymore. I’m glad that you’re different! Reiwa to me means going back to the Japanese ways of kindness, care and dedication. Looking into the future and being open to new opportunities and encounters but cherishing the traditional ways also. I believe you are the embodiment of the new age. Lots of love!!!

When I was 10, I had a Japanese music teacher and she taught me the nursery rhyme about the frogs! I still remember it and I’m 16 years old now! I was singing along!😂

You have no idea how much this warmed my heart just watching this. I smiled n laughed with a lump in my throat throughout the video. It’s so honest and real. I wished I had gotten my children involved more in housework when they were Sutan’s age. Thank you Moe-san. You’re such an inspiration ! ❤️❤️
