It's not criminal, and unfortunately, women do it all the time. Many fathers have had to be tortured by women who not only use the kids as a means to hurt the father, but also try to turn the kids against the father actively, blaming him for everything. It's an unfortunate reality, which is one of the main reasons why less than 5 in 1000 men are getting married and having kids. It's just not worth it anymore. Especially when the legal system almost always sides with the women, regardless of the circumstances, and men get financially brutalized. Unfortunately, there's just nothing in it at all for men anymore. Nothing to gain, everything to lose. Until the legal system also recognizes that as many women as men are abusers and start protecting men, this will continue to be the trend.

@ I have. I’m single and 50. I have to work full time. Fostering in my state does not pay enough that I would be able to support myself and a child and save for retirement. I spent 10 years as a postpartum doula helping families with their newborns. I adored the job, but it was extremely hard as a single woman to make ends meet and keep my health with caring for babies at night. So I had to go back to corporate work. I’m not eligible for fostering at this time.
