I absolutely love how real Heidi & Taylor are…”Let’s be real. Turn the camera around and look at the mess.” Thank you!!! Yes, there’s always a mess. We have 4 kiddos. Piles of dishes and laundry and food on the baby high chair 😅 all the time

I love that yall aren’t fake, sugar coating things, or afraid of judgement. When you insisted on turning the camera around - that was gold. Thank you, from a full time working mom that has no time to clean up after my two kiddos and hubby. Or to take a shower 😅

As a cookie maker of many years here's my advice for kids. Buy the cookies. The kids want to decorate. That's the fun part. Gingerbread is tricky and you can't delay once you get it out or it gets super sticky and stressful. Now I buy gingerbread cookies at IKEA and then just share the decorating part. Or buy ready made sugar cookie dough and decorate those. If you want houses, Mom and Dad should assemble the houses at night. Then let the kids decorate them. OR decorate them while flat and then M&D assemble at night and the kids get to see their creations the next day. Also, PSA, royal icing doesn't fully dry for 24 hours so don't stack the cookies. Have fun. Good luck.

Just spent 4 days in a cabin with my husband and our 24 year old son. The amount of time I spent picking up after them...embrace the mess, whatever! It was fun though, card games, trip to a nearby casino and lots of good food. Pouring down rain the whole time but it felt like Christmas for the first time since the kid was little and destroying our house lol

1:03 and 1:10 - TAYLOR & HEIDI - Taylor points out / complains that women DO struggle with taking time for themselves especially doing things with friends. And then when the guys do it, the women get ticked off. And that's true. That is a thing. But I'd argue that the women might need more support and help doing this because I believe they are actually in the number one caregiver role at all times and making time for themselves is a foreign concept because they are aware of the consequences - who will be the staff backup when they're gone? They not only have to depend on their spouse to be ABLE to do that AND that they actually do it. This takes support, communication, and coordination as a couple. And a competent dad/husband/partner. The guy being gone for a little while is often not a big deal because he's not the primary care giver. And he probably takes that for granted too. Might even be oblivious. I mean you literally have "Oblivious Guy" in your classic and hilarious "family member types at Christmas" video. There's a reason the oblivious guy character is so funny. Cuz he's a common and very real type we ALL know. And he's a DAD. I seriously don't think that type exists for a mom character (well normally anyway, I'm sure there's exceptions). But an oblivious MOM?! The house would literally burn down. Again because the primary caregiver in most homes with two (cis) parents is the mom / woman. If the dad disappears for a few hours on his projects or a few days with the guys and hunting, he knows the world will keep turning because it always does and it will. But that's because of the mom. That's why the mom needs help from the dad to do the same for herself. Because if she's gone for a few hours or days, the world WILL stop spinning and functioning for her family and especially the kids. So the dad has to help her: 1) she needs to be confident about his ability to be the primary caregiver when she's gone and take care of the chores and kids. Maybe even demonstrate that with some practice runs while she's still at home. 2) help her with her mindset that she now actually can do something or go somewhere. Moms can become primary caregiver machines and it can be very hard to switch gears mentally - both off and back on. She's in survival mode 24/7/365. Help her transition from both (and back into it when she's back - give her time to unpack, shower, get organized, when she's back home, etc before she becomes full time mom again). 3) have weekly meetings checking in with each other making sure the important stuff is scheduled and get everyone on the same page and also be clear about everyone's wants and needs, how things are going, what and how things can be done differently, better, instead, get on the same page, etc.

So my pro tip I have found with making cookies, use a mixer and an ice cream scoop (the one with the metal swipe piece). I make 4-5 different types of cookies from scratch in 2 days and freeze them in individual balls for months so you can have a cookie whenever you want and don't have to make that often. Usually it lasts about 6 months. The scoop also keeps your hands cleaner (helps for ppl with eczema so the dough doesn't bother your hands) and it makes them all the same size so they cook evenly.
