This is Movies With Mom, where we watch movies with moms, because moms tend to watch movies differently! When the kids are down for the night, it’s nice to unwind with a good movie. But it’s funny how your perspective changes …

The boarding school scenes were definitely accurate. They tried to get all of the “indian” out of them by any means necessary.

Unfortunately it was accurate, but what they depicted is only a small glimpse, reality was worse.

I'm sorry to hear this. I am a non catholic Christian, and anyone claiming to be one would completely condemn such hateful behavior. I know there are plenty of bad examples of course, still hard to watch.

Yes, definitely accurate. Look what they're discovering right now in Canada! Horrific.

Jacob (Harrison Ford) is James (Tim McGraw)’s brother. James dies is 1893 during the S4 Yellowstone flashback Margaret (Faith Hill) dies is a snow storm a year later. Jacob raises James’ sons, John and Spencer. John has his son Jack (the one getting married) Spencer was in WW1 ( youngest son of James, Brother of John and uncle of Jack)

The boarding school scenes are only 1 percent of what happened. They are still finding mass graves in Christian boarding schools all the way from Arizona to Canada...this just scratches the surface of what happened.

Harrison Ford is Jacob, the brother of James in 1883. Also, did you recognise who played the sheriff in the first episode? The actor was Robert Patrick, he played the T1000 in Terminator 2.

The “Bozeman” scenes were filmed here in Butte, Montana. The Dutton ranch house was built just out of town a few miles by the mountains but because of the snow I havnt gone out to get a look at it yet.

Looking forward to 1923 with ya .. .. Taylor Sheridan said that he needs 3x the people to make 1923, than Yellowstone/1883 and 1883 was the most expensive TV series ever made .. .. So, just imagine the cost of 1923?!

The boarding school scenes where really difficult to watch especially knowing that sort of thing happened. I’m assuming that girl is Monica’s great grandma or maybe great great.

It’s Sad that you had to question the realism with the boarding school scene…

Not really went you factor in that tv shows love to make trauma worse for shock value on tv every single day, even with real life stories. Like if you’re not very well versed on what happened you’d never know beyond what the media covers which is very little except all the mass graves they found recently which still doesn’t say enough

I was half tempted not to watch this show because of how 1883 ended. I was looking forward to another season of it and Elsa of course. She was a great character. Her narrating this show feels oddly comforting. Almost like she isnt really gone. Which in turn makes the fact that she is sting a little more. I didnt know the church did that to the indians. First saw it in "Anne with an E". Thats a good show too.

The only problem I have is catholic sections, which seems way extreme. I'm sure there are bad things that really happened, but this is beyond the pale. The rest is better than 1883, and Yellowstone, which I stopped watching, since I just don't like any of the characters. Maybe I'll get back into it after 1923.

It’s almost like that’s what really happened to innocent children at the hands of these so-called people of God. It’s supposed to make you uncomfortable. That’s the whole point.

I will never buy the self-righteousness and fake indignation of people described in the range war in this show. The Duttons stole the land from the Indians and now they are complaining about somebody else trying to steel it from them; it's a bunch of thieves trying to steel from another bunch of thieves ... what goes around comes around.
