I have my pure and mechanics A Level exam this afternoon (almost 2 hours) and I have never been able to do this topic. After watching both of your videos on ladders, finally I can do it. I attempted this second question after watching the first video, and I finally got the answers right. Thank you for such clear, simple explanations on a topic that is overlooked by most teachers.

thanks so much for this video. I'm in grade 12 and I have always had issues with mechanics due to the difficulties i faced with ladder problems. It actually scared me until I came across this video. Thanks a million. God bless you!

Best explanation 👌 and at 17:50 you found R2 which is force from the wall not the ground

I don't understand why µ was × by R1 in order for it to be "at the point of slipping"
@ExamSolutions_Maths
@ExamSolutions_Maths 3 жыл бұрын
F= mu * R is the general formula for the frictional force acting on a particle as it depends on the smoothness of the surface (mu) and the reaction force at the point of contact with the surface (R1 at A). Although it's 'at the point of slipping', there is still a frictional force.

Sir: Were the value of mu to become four-fold of the present root what could one then surmise? It’s obvious it would become more difficult to budge the ladder, but what else can one express?

Can you do a video on taking moments from points that are not on the body and also using triangle of forces to solve problems where a rigid body is in equilibrium under 3 non-parallel forces please? (If you have not done them already)

If the wall wasn't smooth the frictional force would be acting upwards wouldn't it?
