Thanks so much for this video. I too have a momentum Transcend e+ here in Western Australia. I've had it nearly two years now. I did change the front forks for suspended units, have added the tyre inner tube foam protection, changed the handlebars for a more comfortable swept back type, changed the saddle for something more comfy and added non-integrated lights and a GPS speed display. Here in Australia we're severely restricted to 25kM/Hr which is a ridiculously low speed given that ordinary push bikes pass me on the road with ease. I feel like I'm driving one of the first automobiles and I should have a footman in front waving a red flag! The bike is super comfortable and I have zero regrets buying it. Great review. Much appreciated.

Thanks for watching and congratulations on modifying your Transcend to fit your needs. I just replaced the tires on my Transcend with Schwalbe Marathon E-Plus Touring Tires and the new tires are a HUGE improvement over the tires that came on the bike. Here's a link to my review of the tires if you are interested. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mprInGx7rb1jbdUsi=_9uywvbG2NiB3sVu

I have been an avid road-bike cyclist for all my life (I will be 70 in a few weeks) riding distance and competition events, however, I came to the conclusion that it was becoming more difficult to negotiate the hills like I did in my youth. I recently bit the bullet and bought a Momentum (although I initially felt embarrassed even considering an e-bike) - like you, I could not be more pleased. I have a 10 mile commute to work across hilly terrain and while I have only had it for a week, it has performed as promised. I was not sure how the "assist" would impact my cardio workout - I am pleased to report that I can still kick my pulse rate up beyond my target goal and work up a good sweat (to the chagrin of my co-workers.) Thanks for the review and a bravo to Giant for a job well done.

Same for me, riding an eBike is way more exercise than I was getting from my old bike sitting in the garage! ;)

Great videos on the bike , I just wondered do you and your wife stull own your bikes , any regrets on buying them ? Im after hybrid hub geared e bike and they are being sold at £999. I cant decide to go with the normal or bendy bar vida with the smaller 26 inch wheels.

Thanks for watching! I still have and enjoy my Transend E+, but we traded in my wife's Vida E+ for a newer low-step Vida E+ that is easier for her to get on and off. Absolutely zero regrets on our bikes! I saw where they are on sale and I've shared the link with several friends who are on the fence about getting Ebikes. The new Vida E+ has the lower gearing and 26" tires and although peddle assist cuts off at 20mph the smaller tires and lower gearing make it really peppy when starting from a stop and it climbs steep hills with less effort. My Transend will go up to 28mph, but I don't go that fast very often. The Vida has a very upright, relaxed rider position, much like a cruiser bike, whereas the Transend is has a slightly more athletic riding position that reminds me of the old 10-speed bike I rode in the 70s. I removed one of the 1" spacers on the handlebar stem so I could lower the handlebars on my Transend. Not sure if the new versions have a pair of spacers on the stems like our bikes.

Hello, just looking to purchase this bike in the UK. Now you’ve owned both bikes for a long time have you had any issues? How many miles have you done now and have you used it in the rain much? Many thanks
@Koolbob29 ай бұрын
We have been playing more pickleball and riding less in recent years. I’ve only ridden about 1,200 miles on my bike and haven’t had a single problem. My bike looks and performs like new. I did have a flat tire and when changing the tube I discovered the sidewall on the tire was damaged so I upgraded both tires and the new tires are much better than the stock tires (see my video on the new tires). My wife loved her Momentum bike, but we started to regret not getting the low-step over version so we reached out to the bike shop where we bought it and they offered to let us return the one-year old bike and order her a new Momentum with only a 15% ‘restocking fee’. She absolutely loves her new Momentum. We’ve not ridden in the rain, but one of the reasons I got the Momentum bikes is they don’t have LCD screens which I’ve read can be prone to rain damage.

@@Koolbob2 thanks for your quick reply. Yes I’ve seen your video on the tyres. They definitely look better quality. I will proceed some of those tyres up. My go to tyre is usually the maxxis hookworm though. They are very durable tyres!!

I keep waiting for Minnie Riperton to show up, singing 'Loving You.' That said, I test road this bike in San Francisco, then purchased it in Fremont CA for a steal! It's on layaway. This ebike is highly underappreciated and underrated. Perhaps, due to its Nexus internal hub gear set. I've seen the reviews. 95% of buyers praise it. It's a good bike. Give Giant credit.

Agreed! Momentum bikes are not on most people's radar and we got ours within a few days of ordering them on-line, even during the pandemic. We absolutely love ours!

Some Giant/Liv/Momentum bikes come with lights, some do not. Mine didn't come with lights, but the wiring for a head and tail light was tucked away inside the frame so I was able to add my favorite lights easily.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who loves these bikes! The Momentum brand (sub brand of giant) is often overlooked and represents a fantastic quality for the money in my opinion.

@Koolbob2 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I've climbed a 30-degree hill, but I can tell you that my driveway is very steep and climbing it on my aluminum frame Cannondale mountain bike meant standing up and peddling with all my might in first gear to make it up the hill. I still drop down to first gear on my Transend E+, but it's much easier than an unassisted bike. We recently bought a newer Momentum Vida E+ for my wife and it uses the same motor as my bike, but has smaller tires (26" vs 27.5") and a smaller sprocket up front. The Vida E+'s top assisted speed it 20mph, but the lower gearing and smaller tires make it considerably easier to climb steep hills and it feels peppier starting from a stop. If you are concerned about hills and don't need the 28mph top speed of the Transend E+ you might want to consider a Vida E+. Here's the video I made on the Vida E+. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYqUXmWrlNKtZ8k

Have you been able to find any fenders that will fit?
@Koolbob23 жыл бұрын
One of the things I like about the Momentum bikes is that they don't have fenders. There are unused threaded holes that look like good places to mount fenders if that's something you like.

I prefer not to have fenders, so I can't offer any advice. You might want to ask the tech at your local bike store, or you could buy some 'universal' fenders on amazon.
