She adopted Christina from an agency that literally kidnapped babies from usually underage mothers. The mom would be told their baby died when in all actuality they were sold on the black market. She was under fire by family members when the movie came out Joan Crawford's grandson has come out on the internet saying thst wasn't true and that Joan Crawford was not what Christina wrote in her book. Christine Crawford traveled the talk shows in the 80s and.90s and her own family called her Out.on those accusations. She had to admit that some of the things she wrote including the wire hanger scene were not true.

My mother told me how she remembers as a kid they did a filming with the Crawford's for Christmas. She told how the kids had to give back their gifts and Christina didn't want to give up her doll. Then when Joan was love on TV she said that she saw the jealous look in her eyes when the guy on TV told Joan to call Christian in for everyone to see her!

Of course it was true.... if you think logically about it...Joan Crawford had a reputation of being controlling and difficult while making her movies.....so given that information it only seems believable that she would feel comfortable to exurt the same type of behavior towards her children plus worse since she would feel comfortable to express her complete control over them and managed to do it using whatever means necessary to do it!!

I believe Christina is grossly exaggerating. She's even said herself the wire hanger moment never happened in real life. There's a lot of evidence out there that refutes many of her claims.

Christina wasn't in charge of the film makers changing the story of her book when they made the movie. I don't believe the book is exaggerated, but even Christina said the film was fictional.
