I haven't watched the video yet but looking at leyline, it makes me wonder if its worth experimenting with other off-color fun-of's. I'm thinking atraxa, vein ripper, or even shark typhoon, but I've always approached the game with a more casual lens. That said, I think Nykthos is headed for a ban

It's been "headed for a ban" for about 5 years now! Older builds used Oath of Nissa to play the Grixis Nicol Bolas planeswalker (Dragon God). The Elesh Norn versions have been solid, and a good reason to splash another color, but you need to make it somewhat easy to splash without Guildpact. Elesh Norn is perfect fit IMO.

I'm seeing some lists playing might stone & meek stone as MD flex removal. Am I wrong in thinking that Leyline Binding is the better card in that flex slot?

If you don’t manage to land leyline of the Guildpact, leyline binding is effectively a dead draw
