In 2011, Universal indicated the 'defining traits' for Frankenstein's monster were: green skin, flat top head, scar on forehead, bolts in neck, and protruding forehead. In order to be considered a copyright violation, the item must exhibit all 5 traits. So it's completely untrue that just having the bolts without the other four would be in violation. Mattel have said that, but it just doesn't hold water. I think it's cool they decided Frankie is now using they/them, but Mattel needed to be much more obvious about that on the box. Otherwise it's just lip service, because if people aren't watching the movie/series they'd never know. As someone who doesn't care about the tie-in series, it would have been news to me.

I already can tell that I'll probably never like G3 as much as G1, but I am much happier with the G3 dolls after seeing them in person. As for the characterization choices though, I personally feel like they completely neutered Clawdeen of anything that makes her unique. So far, she just seems like an extremely watered down version of what Frankie already is, so I'm interested to see the character development as time goes on. Frankie's gender identity is a no-brainer for me since they're made up of various genders' body parts anyway, so becoming a non-binary character honestly just makes sense given the progress we've made with representation of different genders and sexualities since 2010. All in all, am I as enamored with G3 as I was with G1? No, I feel like there's still a lot of growth that needs to be done with character development and the actual physical fashions. However, I am very excited to see what's coming next!

You should keep all the accessories in the goreganizer! It has been an adjustment, but I’m loving the new generation with all the new body types and inclusiveness. As a parent myself, it’s been fun to share them with my child and bond over them! I hope we get to see more of the characters too! Not that I’m not loving how many new iterations of the dolls we are getting, but I really want to see a buff Abbey, like Luisa from Disney’s Encanto, and more of the mansters. I love the inclusivity and all the new body types they’re bringing to this new generation. It’s a bit different from g1, but I like a lot of the changes. They make sense for today’s generation and are pretty well thought out!

My daughter is 6 and has played with her older cousin’s hand me down MH dolls for a while now. She always asks for new ones and I’ve been like no way I’m buying resale prices. I’m so happy for her that they’re coming back out, starting the story from the beginning so she can really dive in. She is thrilled with the Nickelodeon stuff and every single doll is on the Christmas list 😅 thank you for helping me do my research! I’m kinda like maybe she could just display them in my room… 🤣

I absolutely love these dolls! I know a lot of people just wanted more of G1, and I understand why, but I have to say that I love G3 just as much as I love g1. It's almost like a different doll line, but the same at the same time

I think MGA also did what we call in business buying part of the market - as in the rainbow high dolls initially were sold at a lower price point w the intention of losing money per unit but w the long term goal of building brand recognition and eventually increasing the price point in order to achieve profit once there was significant brand loyalty. This obviously comes with risk and which public companies are less inclined to do.

I can accept G3 but I can’t accept the piss poor communication and lack of distribution of their little G1 schtick they’re on right now. If they were going to treat the originals like this they should’ve never bought them back and just stuck to G3.

It’ll be an adjustment, but I’m sure you’re gonna look just as amazing with glasses. I’ve been stuck in glasses full time since second grade. I adore Clawdeen’s new look! I like her glasses and hair from the new animated series better than the doll version though. I think her doll glasses are slightly too chunky and the same shape with thinner frames would make her look a lot better. I also rerooted my Clawdeen doll with yarn hair to get the kinky curly texture her animated counterpart has! Onto Frankie, I love love love nonbinary Frankie! They were my favorite character in the live action movie and I love them just as much in the TV series! It’s really really nice to have a nonbinary character that dresses femme instead of only androgynous. Wearing “girly” things doesn’t make Frankie any less nonbinary. The music videos that go along with all the new MH dolls are really awesome and the songs are catchy!

Also, forgot to ask, when you were at the MH kickoff thing where they told you all about the reasons behind the design choices, did they explain why Clawdeen’s got glasses now? Some people have theorized that her day vision is terrible but her night vision is amazing. I personally think it’s just because the number of people, kids especially, that need glasses keeps increasing.

I will say the first gen I thought was nice, but I was always more of an Ever After High collector, but this new gen I actually feel super into. They look so amazing to me ^^ I even got Lagoona who I never got when they were first released xp I think Cleo and Frankie are my fave Boos at the moment

I think there are different age groups being focused on in the different doll series. I like that the younger generation is being included more, but I like seeing and hope they still make the skinny boney gnarled finger of the older ones. Xx

I miss your talks. I have been loving seeing the event videos from other doll collectors and there in the mix is Mama Melissa! I’m so jealous they get to meet you. My channel creation is starting slow because I’m still teaching full time online. This semester, our schedule is a mess and I can’t seem to find time to keep that work/life balance I keep talking to my kiddos about. I have enjoyed the times I get to watch you and the other collectors I follow. The fact all of you recognize me and respond makes me feel like I have a community of friends who enjoy the hobbies I do. Luckily, I sponsor a couple of clubs at school. One is PRISM, our GSA club and the other is a Sew Cute craft club where we all LOVE crafting, collecting, and creating. This week we are having a pumpkin painting party in club. I am getting the 4 dolls from the core line I want and just going to heal my inner preteen that wanted monster high dolls so bad but was constantly told middle schoolers don't play with dolls (which was bs) especially given I could have really used a character like Frankie who expressed themselves exactly how I wished I could have and could have given be the start of the language I needed to express who I was

looks like clawdeen dyed her purple and the top part faded to a light silver/brown/purple/blond while some small pieces are still vibrant purple. This is exactly the pattern my hair gets when the purple fades, so her hair is realistic and I love it. Also, her hair is so long why no one talks about this? As for the nails not being painted, does that have anything to do we the fact young kids chew doll hands?

I think the G1 versions of the dolls were geared toward preteens. They were a bit spookier and far more edgy to appeal to that age group... I think that's also part of why they were sooooo successful. Appealing to 4 year olds puts them in competition with all the other doll lines. To the extent that they have the success of their predecessors, I think, will be from parents' nostalgia for the OGs. Just my opinion.

I love Frankie's design, as someone who's nonbinary they're my fave. clawdeen's design is cute but what bothers me is that they whitewashed her.(I'm not black but I've been listening and reading what black ppl have been saying and it's a problem, and they did bring up the inconsistencies with her dolls varying skin tones in g1.ive also seen ppl comparing her old dolls and current doll ). I also don't understand the hate lagoons has been getting like she can still be any color bc blue is just her last name. also she's cute, and I that they made her latina.

It kills me how the biggest thing people are saying is how enamored they are with the “inclusivity” of G3, as if G1 wasn’t the most inclusive doll line of all time back then. Every skin tone, every race. They wanted/tried to make gay characters but Mattel and Nickelodeon bucked at it. The point is, nobody seems to be able to applaud G3 inclusivity without digging at G1 as if it was Barbie. People also tend to lose sight of the fact that the only reason Draculaura is thicker, Frankie is non-binary etc etc is money. They know Gen Z and younger will buy into it. It’s not coming from a place of sincerity, this is a corporation.

Yup, I had lassik for aesthetic reasons. No regrets. I like not having to search for my glasses every morning by grasping around until I can feel them. You do you, but I love being me without glasses. I did my 10-15 years of severe vision impairment, I do not want to go back to that.

I never bought the G1 dolls, which I regret now. At the time I think it was a combination of not being able to afford them and my practical brain asking myself what was I going to do with them and where was I going to put them. My apartment isn't that big lol. But, I decided to get onboard with G3 once I saw Draculaura's doll. They're all very cute, I like the body type varieties especially. I'm not terribly happy with the personality changes but I don't have cable or Paramount+ so I can ignore most of that and just enjoy the dolls. I'm buying them a little bit at a time, I can't afford to dump a bunch of money at once on all of them. I keep telling myself, Christmas is coming, stores will have sales and more stock on shelves. I'm still missing Frankie, Lagoona, Toralei, Clawdeen, and Cleo. I almost bought Cleo the other night but the Target I was at had one Coffee Break set left so I had to buy that. 😆 But now I feel like I have to buy the Coffin Bean play set so Coffee Break Deuce has somewhere to go. 🤣 My only complaint is the amount of plastic stays and rubber ties that are on these dolls. It's as stressful as playing a game of Perfection (ask your parents) trying to cut the dolls free without ruining their hair.

Despite the issue with the Gen 3 dolls having the painted details on their legs not sealed properly (I have seen other people mention the paint on Lagoona's lower legs flaking off, the printed details on the prosthetic leg and stitches on Frankie rubbing off, and Toreli's stripes on her legs rubbing off) and Clawdeen, the main character, having unmanageable Polypropylene hair, the overall execution seems okay. Design wise, Cleo and Toreli are still my favorite Gen 3 dolls. I can't wait until they eventually make the Gen 3 Nefera doll, because I know that because of my bias for her, and because she is my favorite Gen 1 character and was my first MH Gen 1 doll, she will be a must have for me.

To fix the hand, take a coffee cup. Fill it with water and place it in the microwave oven for one minute. Next, take Clawdeen's hand and (carefully) dip it in the hot water. When the plastic becomes soft (the hand will be very hot so be careful), bend the fingers back in place, hold them there then run cold water over the hand. It will reshape the hand.

I was incredibly hesitant about G3 at first, I'm pretty sure I just had my nostalgia glasses on too tight because I was NNAWT feeling the new designs when those teaser photos dropped. I was nervous about the movie too because I was like AAAHHH I DONT KNOOW ABT THIS COSTUME HAIR AND MAKEUP SITUATION i was spooked mcgooked BUT. and this is a big but. I'm realizing that like to a child this is going to appear way different; I was a young child right in the target demographic when G1 dropped and i think that's part of the reason why it was so magical to me. Seeing characters that embraced being unique, different; being seen as "freaks" but embracing your so-called flaws, it just spoke to me and a huge generation in such a powerful way. I think that the original MH line is iconic and timeless, the dolls are beautiful and still exist as their own entity now. the new dolls are so much cuter than i expected; they look more childlike and saturated, but i'm able to appreciate that and the line as an entity separate from G1 (drac is so cute i luv her sm). WITH THAT BEING SAID, i think the world is an incredibly different place now, and monster high is adapting to this and adapting their characters to speak to a new generation. Now we are able to see the representation we've always wanted for kids in movies, tv, and toys. we have characters that are mixed race, characters that wear glasses, and characters that have no gender. It warms my heart to see children get the representation I needed at that age, and it just speaks to the message monster high has been promoting all along

Am trying to like the new Monster High, but Mattel isn't making it easy. Neither the creeproductions nor the reel drama dolls made it to Australia. G3 only arrived last week. I've yet to see them in stores. Tried ordering a Lagoona online, but the one i got had really wonky eyes, so i had to return her.

It is very common with age it could be PVD(i forget the full name but the "D" means detachment). I currently have it. If you see floaters talk to your eye doctor about it. Just keep an eye on it and talk to your doctor.

MGAE is a private company that has never shown a profit/loss numbers. We don’t know if they are literally making one dime. Mattel is a public company with a board of directors and public profit/loss reports. That’s the difference.

In terms of money from what I’ve seen from mga’s quality control is not good. Metel is much better. So yah mga may be able to do crazy things for a lower cost but it’s not always executed properly.

I don't understand why people are accepting crumbs when they should be figuring out why and how to fix it I have a feeling that it's probably the same issue as the cartoon industry artist want to own rights to their work and make money off the merchandise because right now that is how the company's are buying rights to the artist work and profit from the merchandise while the artist dose make episodes or make art for packaging in metals case the artist are not being paid what they are worth and not even bearly making a liveable wage I don't know how it is in the doll industry but that is what's happening in the cartoon industry interesting enough that both industry's are doing the same exact thing at the same time and why everything is being race swapped and trying to please LGBTQ with old stuff if you want new help the artist we all laffing at Disney cartoon network and nickelodeon Struggling with out artist The company's need to change the way they operate and make money because way things are now is out dated ! mga is willing to change how the toy industry operates ! I keep seeing this ad for Monster High that annoys me to no end - it's a kid concerned about starting her new school and fitting in and her parents remind her of the whole "be yourself" thing. All fine until you realize that EVERYONE in the ad is either heavily filtered or made-up to the point they look like they're the ones made of plastic.

It makes me laugh that you think that 25 dollars are expensive🤣. Here in Europe these dolls are going to cost from 36 to 39 dollars each (and they're not even available anywhere) so maybe just appreciate that in US you have these super affordable prices. If I were Monster High I wouldn't liste too much to children's opinions because they change their mind every day. I would better make products that CAN actually compete with what's on the market at the moment (like rainbow high, shadow high, lol omg/omg fierce, etc...). But that's just my opinion anyway😅

Monster High G3 is better than Monster High G2 because G2 Are plain,boring and lack of Creativity, G3 has the same level of awesome as g1,but I still don't like G3 Heath because he looks like a combination of Peter Pan and Human Torch
