Considering he 3-0'd Wrath, and Ddee (and one other I can't remember) into GF, it seemed pretty impossible for anyone to speed-bump him. Which is why I said props to Sonix for accomplishing even that.

Something I don't think enough people talk about is Light's reaction time. There's a LOT of wifi Foxes that buffer their options or go for really committal reads out of anticipation, but Light will react to your options in real time. It makes it feel that much more suffocating, like every option is the wrong option when he can just get 50% in a combo string because you messed up one time

I think his efforts show that he is deserving of the praise he gets for being this good, and although i get the whole "sonic is lame" thing, well, so is half the characters in this game, and most of the top tiers. I was rooting for light, but if sonix won i wouldn't be mad.

Just in case you didn't know, you can always jump out of the charge of side-B or down b. That means you can always face any direction when going off stage. And if you B-reverse then you can even shift your momentum any direction.

Sonix genuinely is one of the best players in Ultimate, not to discredit from Light’s win. Sonix’s offense is INCREDIBLE, he chooses defense though because it’s most optimal. At least Sakurai made the run away/rushdown characters have awful tech roll frame data like Sonic and Falcon. Then the characters who thrive on some type of range like zelda and dk have great tech rolls. Actually this logic doesn't make sense for some characters like plant and ridley. And others actually...what the heck makes them give some characters awful tech rolls and others good ones?? You'd think heavies would have bad ones like bowser and charizard but dk and dedede have amazing tech rolls. Then the princesses all have great ones. mac and pit have bad ones? i wonder what the balance teams reasoning is for it

I honestly love watching Sonic box! Light’s Fox is the only character who consistently forces Sonix to do that, and Sonix can’t compete with Light in that arena at all, but it’s still fun to watch. I look forward to Sonix getting better and making it competitive. When that happens these could become some of the most entertaining sets in the scene. Kinda like how Light vs Marss sets used to be.

This would probably be an absolute alpha-tier matchup if there were no DLC. Two light, fast characters running around, seemingly more or less on equal footing. Light is a grandmaster, and he made it work. Glad to see he's back in form after getting covid right before Summit and then being out of the game for a while. I've also enjoyed seeing him in "Light's Out" with EE and Cosmos in the meantime. Now that he's back in form, it will be cool to see him tangle with the likes of Sparg0, Tweek, MkLeo, and Shuton at Crown.
