B/c in reality, it is the parents/owner of a home who is hosting. Not their kids. Hell, kids are technically only guests in their own childhood home. They don't pay for anything, or own the place, lol... Seriously, I picked my 13 yo son up at 1am from a sleepover once when I couldn't talk to the parents. My son kept saying they were there, but couldn't talk.🙄 Turned out this house I didn't kno was full of kids, parents were in Europe unaware of the party, and someone was seriously hurt that night. Young adult here. If I went over to someone's house as a kid, my parents would talk with them over the phone and arrange pick-up/drop-off etc. beforehand. Never called while I was there. To be honest, I never really went to friends houses super often. I learned how to entertain myself. That being said, I turned out perfectly fine and make friends easily.
