Very cool to see you and your husband working together on this. So many options on how to finish. I love the idea of glass doors but, I personally would NOT like that headache . I think if you go with making it white on top then the glass doors or the silver more ornate you tube option would be nice. If you decide on the staining the top I think the wicker type of baskets you had will look just as lovely. Your options are endless but, I it will turn out amazing 🤩 no matter your final decision.

I would just use the baskets. The mirrors are pretty, but I like the baskets with the farmhouse look. The gray stain will look beautiful! I am so excited to see the end product!

If your shelf gets wobbly, even with the new top, use L brackets to make it more sturdy. I would use bins or baskets in the spaces and put some things directly on shelf. I wouldn't add doors. It's particle board, it may not hold doors. You can find wood bins or clear acrylic to fit spaces and glue mirror tile to the front, put a knob on and it will look like doors.

I agree the glue is needed when putting wooden furniture together. Will you be working on the brown one? The top looks good the way it is The shelf is sturdy, that's good. Do the job as cheap as you can. That's the whole purpose . PEACE! When are you modeling again?

I feel the same way. It is too dangerous for children. I would still bracket it to the wall. In addition the children could cut themselves on the sharp mirrors. The baskets are enough.

Put nothing in the front. It's not heavy enough to hold glass or doors without the risk of falling forward. Use some kind of basket. IDEA and the Container Store have cloth ones
