Her theme is so great! You hear it in other episodes besides episode 4, but it's nowhere in the Vol 2 of the soundtrack

No. It’s in volume 1 though. Britell has mostly just been reusing that track/cue. It’s powerful every time it comes in for her though.

@@starwarsmusicanalysis D'you know what the instrument is that they use in the second half of the theme? It has an almost Shepard-Risset Glissando kind of feel to it. Absolutely haunting and perfectly captures how anxiety inducing it must be to be in Mon Mothma's position.

I think what you’re hearing is an effect that Britell is using throughout the series in different ways. I actually just did a video on the effect which is called “Wow and Flutter”. In this case though, Britell is only using it on certain instruments which makes it feel a specific instrument is playing a glissando. Here’s the video if you’re interested. That scene was so well scripted. You know, like the rest of the show was.

You did so well with this. Probably my favorite video of yours. Her theme is just so damn good too, so tense.

Thank you! The Andor music was so easy to connect to the characters because everything about that show fit so perfectly.

Ikr! Luthen's theme was also really good. I hope britell is going to compose season 2. @@starwarsmusicanalysis

I just found your channel and your dives into the music are so awesome! I need to try and boost this stuff because a lot of us have been having a blast with all sorts of Andor discussions on different layers, but none of the folks in my discussion circles are musicians so we miss this layer. Anyway, commenting on this video for the KZbin algorithm, because the Mon Mothma theme just gets me every time. I don't know musical theory, but it just feels to me like tiptoeing a path where one wrong turn is disaster, with the feeling of intensifying doom underneath.

Thank you! I’m glad you found it! I always felt like the other channels did such incredible breakdowns but didn’t know how to talk about the music, which is such an important part of Star Wars. Mothma’s theme is deceptively powerful. I plan to do a breakdown eventually but I love the way Britell incorporates it into the scene. I feel it’s more a theme for her life though than for her because of how depressing and strained it is. I’d love any help you offer for getting the word out. I’m slowly getting better at promoting but still have a lot to learn.

@@starwarsmusicanalysis I was listening to Maarva's Rebellion and I feel like the second half sounds like Mon Mothma's theme ... I think Maarva's Rebellion was only used once, in episode 7, and in context it feels like a melancholy theme about the deep personal price of the Rebellion.

Oh yeah. That track is gorgeous. Full of suspensions and accented dissonances, giving us a sense of pain. It reminds me of the music of Palestrina and Josquin.

I guess it could have been. These originally just started as single line Melodie’s and have been gradually becoming bigger orchestrations and tracks as I see people’s reactions.

May I have permission to use this for a video production project? I will credit you if you want that.

Sure. Keep in mind though that it’s an arrangement of the theme from Andor so you still might run into copyright issues outside of me.
