Join me as I explore the downtown area of Monaca, Pennsylvania, a small town with a rich history and culture. In this first part of a four-part series, I will show you some of the landmarks and attractions that make Monaca unique. 🏙️
I will start my walk at the intersection of 8th Street and Pennsylvania Ave. and walk east down Pennsylvania Ave., where I will stop and look at [Stoelzle Glass USA, Inc.], a stunning glass manufacturing company. This company produces high-quality glass products for various industries, such as cosmetics, perfumes, spirits, and pharmaceuticals. 💄🍾💊
After that, I will walk past the Monaca Municipal Building, where I can see two large open garage doors with two fire trucks inside. 🚒🚒 The building also houses the police station and the borough offices. 🚓🏛️ Then, I will walk past some cozy downtown Monaca shops, such as a tailor shop, an old furniture store, and a barber shop. These shops reflect the town’s diverse and vibrant community. 👗🛋️💇♂️ I will also walk past Monaca's US Post Office. 📮
Following that, I will stop and look at a bronze plaque honoring the local heroes who served and died in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. 🎖️ The plaque lists the names of 91 men who gave their lives for their country. 🇺🇸 Near the post office, I will stop and look at and walk through George Washington Park, a small community park that has a fountain with two flag poles displaying the American and Pennsylvania flags. 🌳⛲🇺🇸🇵🇦 The fountain is empty and not working during my visit to the park. 😢 The park was named after the first US President George Washington.
Across the street from the park, I will see the Monaca Community Hall of Fame, which recognizes the achievements and contributions of notable Monaca residents. 🌟 Some of the inductees include Joe Namath, a legendary football player; Henry Mancini, a famous composer; and Norma Jean Mattei, a civil engineer and former president of the American Society of Civil Engineers. 🏈🎵🏗️
As I continue my walk, I will see more small stores, such as a cigar store that caters to the town’s cigar aficionados. 🚬 There are also several stores that are now vacant, indicating the economic challenges that Monaca faces. 😔
Finally, I will end part one of my walk at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, a beautiful church that was built to serve the community. ⛪ The church has a distinctive brick exterior and a tall, red roof with Spanish tiles. 🔴
This video was recorded on September 14, 2023. Stay tuned for the next part of the series, where I will continue my walk through Monaca and discover more of its hidden gems. 💎 Please like the video and subscribe to my @RoamTuber channel. 👍🔔 Thanks for watching! 😊
