We’re in France and are planning a day trip to Monaco. This video is just what we needed to make this trip interesting and diverse this time round. Any tips on where to eat and drink without breaking a bank but also nice views? Great video! Love it!
@Kristinahouwer3 ай бұрын
Thank you so much Victoria , appreciate your lovely feedback and hope you have a beautiful time in Monaco 🥰! For well priced food and drinks in a nice setting I recommend the following : Larvotto area along the beach: La Note Bleu, Miami Plage and Sexy Tacos Condamine area : Norma Italian or Cafe Milano right on the main port and if you’re looking for something a little more high end there’s La Mome which is actually right above the port palace hotel. A little more expensive but outstanding every time with incredible views. There is also the terrace bar in the Fairmont hotel which could be nice for drinks and they also have food menus, although I’ve never eaten there if I’m honest ! There are also lots of cute options along the Fontvieille port - the residential area we saw from above in my video. Here restaurants are more homey and less about the glamour and I love Cozza (Asian), Salière (Italian) and Gerhards cafe (more like an outdoor pub setting with nibbles but great vibe) Hope this helps !

@@Kristinahouwer your video has a very large view count. How does a regular local person like yourself afford to live in a small country full of millionaires? Is the housing not really expensive or is there an affordable area where all of the workers live?
@KristinahouwerАй бұрын
@@OilBaron100 Rent in Monaco is extremely expensive and the workers usually live just outside of Monaco in France. To get a Monaco residency you need an address in Monaco, at least 500k in the bank or a 'sponsor' who has the above. The other way is if the Prince grants you residency or the Monegasque passport (usually only obtained through the Prince or via 3 generations in the family)

@@Kristinahouwer thanks for the information. Fascinating country, I read online that Monaco used to be an absolute monarchy until the local people (peasants?) had riots in the 1930’s so the reigning monarch agreed to some kind of power sharing with a local parliament. Also, I am curious how the locals treat people visiting there, especially those of us from the US. I hear horror stories of how the French-mainly Paris have a disdain for foreigners and wonder if it's the same in Monaco. Thanks.

Thanks so much for letting me know that you couldn’t see it , I’ve added it in as a link again in the description and I hope you can see it now just before the timestamps 🥰 In Monaco no one is rude to you unless you’re rude to them. I give people from all over the world directions every single day and enjoy meeting foreigners and always ask where they’re from. Most people here don’t mind tourists as long as they respect the local rules for cleanliness and general etiquette. I hope you visit soon !

@@Kristinahouwer Thank you for reposting the link. I have it now and downloaded it for offline viewing. Appreciate the response and advice. Also I heard it’s pretty tough to get residency there. Can you provide some details about that or how you went about it. Thank you 🙏🏻 again.
@Kristinahouwer3 ай бұрын
Awesome ! The only thing that I can’t get the map to do is recognise the seaside walk from Larvotto to the Yacht club as pedestrian as there’s a tunnel involved , but trust me it’s better to take that than the upper route the map wants you to take. But that’s the only thing Google keeps getting wrong. I also made a tweak to the final stop on the map so feel free to click the link again. Residency can be obtained either by having a certain amount in an account here as well as an address or by having a « sponsor » who has those things (so a significant other in most cases). You need to spend over 6 months a year here to keep your residency and to obtain it you first do an online application and then attend an in person interview. I’ve actually helped people get it in the past with things like translations , meetings, filling out forms, sharing contacts of the best real estate agents etc. If that’s something you need assistance with, just email me: kristina@kristinahouwer.com

Visited Monaco in 1976. Couldn't buy anything, prices ridiculous high... Nice place, beautiful Rose Garden and buildings, and relax in the the ocean ( the beach for tourists)

I love the rose gardens too, especially in May when everything blooms and smells amazing 😍

the casino square used to be better aesthetically with the older round setup
@Kristinahouwer3 ай бұрын
It’s funny, my mother and I were having this discussion recently. She agrees with you but I personally prefer the new layout, especially as a pedestrian and also because it allows more room for art installations and events when they do them. Thanks so much for watching the video !😃

@@Kristinahouwer also the crowd was better before as I felt the principality was more gentrified, the crowd is more of the nouveau riche recently.

Is there a bus from the train station?
@Kristinahouwer3 ай бұрын
There are buses from two of the three train station exits. The only one that doesn’t have buses right outside is the exit I showed in the Condamine area.
