Welcome to our May cottage garden. There is lots of new growth appearing, and we are taking part in No Mow May. The last of the tulips are flowering and the orchard is full of Spring blossom and cow parsley. Hope you enjoy having a look around!

Would you consider doing an introduction video for the ducks and talk about their care? They are so cute

Beautiful space! I love the more natural look of No Mow May. As another commenter said, I’d love to see more how-to and maintenance content. For example, I loved the little segment where you showed how you dead head your tulips. I’m very interested in how you maintain your clematis, as well!

I’m doing No Mow May in my garden for similar reasons - it should have been just a limited space, but then the lawnmower broke down, so now it’s everywhere 😅 I have had this home for 5 years now, but my garden never ceases to surprise! Three lovely little tulip like flowers have sprouted in the front garden. I have no idea where they came from, and I didn’t even know that bulb plants could spread like that 🌱

Can you do more videos about planting seeds and stuff? You always seem to have stuff already done but never on camera :(

12:54 on the bluebells, I used to fight ours a lot because of fear they’d spread to nearby woodland but to no avail, they’re as vigorous as ever and have very deep bulblets so difficult to dig out. I prefer native English ones as they’re more dainty and scented, and the hybrid ones have dense leathery leaves that smother perennials trying to come through, so I used to try to repeatedly hoe off on arrival. Now I allow them to flower despite risk of cross pollination as they’re still a benefit to bees but I cut them down straight after flowering, leaves and all to avoid risk of them seeding and to curb their vigour a bit and let other plants come through. Another option is to fight fire with fire and plant some wild garlic, let them fight it out! Thanks for the update, beautiful garden and setting and I personally prefer the wild unkempt look, it’s looking amazing 😊

Why not grow something the ducks would like to eat in the tulip beds in the summer if their bellies are full they would be less likely to eat other plants in the garden I think Beautiful fairylike natural garden 🥰

Your garden looks lovely. I live in the states and have been turning our property into native prairie with grasses and flowers. We don’t have a no mow May in my area but we’re mindful of the pollinators and native wildlife that likes to nest in early spring. TYFS

We’re doing no mow May on accident since my husband is traveling for work and I don’t know the gasoline mixture for the mower. 😂 good timing! So, what happens to all the insects living in the lawn after it’s cut?

What an idyllic garden, the orchard is heavenly. Ant the weigelia so pretty with the old stone. I have Erigeron seeding every where too, flowering practically all year. And am delighted that a blue campanula has seeded a large clump in my wall. Happy accidents!

You gave me the idea of no mow may. My backyard looks a bit crazy but the front yard looks great. Granted our back yard is mostly ground cover and whatever wild flowers are growing. We do have bare patches in our back yard so hopefully no low may helps drop seeds to fill in those areas. I have seen bees out and about so that makes me happy.

0:42 May, the most beautiful month of the year, in January, my heart yearns and aches for the month of May, then, like a flash, it is gone. The month of May for me is so romantic, sentimental the annual revival of nature spanning back into ancient times. I was born the first week in May 63 years ago, I can't remember did I decide to be born at the start of May, or was I just lucky?? 10:34 The windows in the out building look really nice, with those Arabesque pointed arches. 10:40 I leave tulip bulbs in place and as the leaves are yellowing for dormancy, they are being concealed with other prennials, vines etc. And mine do bloom everyyear. 20:25 yes, here in Ohio , April, the cold would NOT go away. No global warming for us.

Gorgeous video Mona, I've just realised that I've always said cricut incorrectly, I've been saying it "cry-cut"🤣 just so you know the audio is coming through a little flawed with crackling breaks in the noise, but that could just be my phone. Thanks for another lovely video

I’m fighting those bluebells right now. I let them grow in certain areas, but in another area I’m trying to get rid of them. They are just overwhelming my huecera and I have noticed they are making my daffodils go sideways. They make the bed look so messy too because the leaves are on the ground (which is why they are killing my huecera) I would at least try to contain them and not let them run rampant. I made a mistake last year because I thought they looked so pretty but now they are trying to kill my other plants.

Could you tell me what to put on my radish, cucumber, turnips, squash. Something is making holes in the leave. I tried egg shells. Also tried white vinegar with water. But that doesn't seem to be working. Any help would be appreciated. This is my first time trying to grow a veggie garden . Thank you😊.
