Great video, my wife and I will definitely be getting an account with Monarch, It was nice designing my own spreadsheets with google sheets, but we've mastered budgeting long enough that we can benefit from the new technology and insights offered by Monarch.

Yes - I'm a big spreadsheet fan, but it's really nice to have everything imported and categorized for you. It takes some time up front, but then it's pretty smooth sailing.

Help - I'd like to receive the video training guide you mentioned and a link to the person you mentioned at the end of the video who provides in-depth training on the software. I'll be using your link to get my Monarch today. Thanks for your help! (Years ago, I was a Quicken user for many years, and then I used Mvelopes for a decade or more. I've been without a software budgeting tool for too long now. I trialed Simplifi, Every Dollar and YNBAB, but I think I am going to go with Monarch. I also use Empower and will be keeping that.) Hi Brittany. I am seeing that most of my "tap to pay" transactions are only listed as "google pay" or "apple pay" The actual merchant doesn't transfer over from my bank account to the monarch app. That makes it difficult to categorize the transactions. Have you seen this issue before ?

My personal tap to pay transactions come in like normal transactions. I haven't had any other clients mention this. I think I would contact customer service. (Settings < Help Center

Hi Brittany, thanks for this tutorial. I added an income category for my hubby's paycheck but it's not getting pulled into the budget. How do I get that income into the monthly budget?

You added the category for your husband's paycheck, but that category is not included in the budget? Or the transactions for his paycheck aren't coming through? If the category isn't showing up...go to

If I don't want transactions to auto-categorize, is there a way to turn that feature off?

No way to turn it off, but I suppose you could create a rule so all transactions come in as uncategorized. You can also make every transaction marked as needs review.

Is there a way to budget by paycheck? I calculate my categories by year, then divide by 26 paychecks in a year, so all of my categories end up being fixed amounts each payday (for the most part). Or maybe you know of another app that allows this?

No - only by month with Monarch Money. You can use the forecast to look at it by the year. EveryDollar (the premium version) has a paycheck calculator feature that kind of lets you budget by paycheck, but I'm not sure that it is any better than Monarch Money.

How fast does this update. I just made a transaction and don't see it on Monarch yet?

Monarch automatically refreshes accounts every 24 hours. You can manually refresh more often. Typically I see transactions the next day, sometimes 2. It will also vary depending on your financial institution.

I gave up on Monarch because it lost access to my mortgage accounts and a few others and even after going around with Support i let it expire. I liked it a lot but if I cannot track my mortgage that was a huge negative. Maybe my lender issue but its a biggie.

I'm sorry it wasn't connecting to your lender - that would be frustrating. I don't see a lot of clients with these issues, but occasionally someone has a financial institution that just doesn't cooperate.
