Well done Luke, quite an active session there. If I had that salmon I would just hand it over the the other half, she tells me steam it in a Bain Marie. She's also telling me to get out and catch something we can eat!! Instead of all these freshwater fish I keep putting back.
@Fishingbug5 жыл бұрын
My other half is clueless when it comes to cooking, i do all the cooking🤣. I did think about trying to smoke it on the bbq but it's a bit of a risky game. Did you keep any of the plaice you caught earlier in the year? I find plaice really tasty eating. 😋
@leefishersallwaysfishing5 жыл бұрын
Fishing_bug All the plaice are long gone and very tasty. I always head, tail and gut them on the beach and then put them on a plate and cover with cling film and leave them in the fridge for 24-48 hours. They go a darker colour and mature and believe me they taste far better than if eaten immediately. Even if I'm going to freeze them I still let them mature in the fridge 24 hours before putting in the freezer.

Nice vid, thanks. I would steam the salmon whole in foil in the oven. for seasoning, I would use lemon slices, dill, salt and pepper. now a question for you. Have you had any experience or do you know someone who uses a telescopic beach caster rod?
@Fishingbug5 жыл бұрын
Sounds yummy that's how I normally cook my bass😋 Ive got a tiny telescopic rod with is about 10 inches long and goes to about 4ft which is great fun if you use it for lrf. I have thought about getting a bit of a more heavy duty one to keep in the car for those times you wished you had a rod with you. I went fishing with one of my mates who turned up with a telescopic rod who had no problem catching mackerel with it but I think if you were to use it for casting bigger weights you would struggle.
@udothecarnivore20245 жыл бұрын
@@Fishingbug I've seen 14' telescopic beach caster for sale, just wonder if they would perform the same as standard ones.
@Fishingbug5 жыл бұрын
@@udothecarnivore2024 I'd imagine it would wouldn't be as strong and feel a bit to sensitive but I could be wrong. Maybe find out the recommendated cast weight for it. Most beach casters recommended 4-6oz with the more heavy duty rods going up to 8oz.

Nice work on your videos! I too love to shore fish I’ve had a lot of success using a mullet rig ...if you have never tried one give it a shot it’s awesome.
@Fishingbug5 жыл бұрын
I will have to check out a mullet rig, I've caught mullet in the pass but never really use a mullet rig as such, I've float fished for them with a bubble float or used a running ledger. I'm hoping to finding a day where conditions are right to float fish for whiting on a lrf rod and see if they scrap any better. Glad you enjoyed👍😁

Nice video mate , how come there allowed to net that close to the beach, isnt the sea big enough! What are they after? Cheers Steve
@Fishingbug5 жыл бұрын
Not to sure if they are allowed in so close, half a mile away there's a swimming beach but I expect there is some kind of by-law. Would be interesting to see what they are catching, 5 to 10 years ago there used to be a bit of a codling run along there but the last few years its been dead.
@stevegleed55 жыл бұрын
That’s why there’s no codling left if there netting that close, I fish Torbay coast, trawlers not supposed to be inshore but have seeN them 1/4 mile off the rock marks I fish
@Fishingbug5 жыл бұрын
@@stevegleed5 it's crazy with what they seem to get away with. We have had it in the past where its been calm weather for days and days then all of a sudden there will be loads and loads of weed washing up where the trawlers have come in so close and destroyed the sea beds.

Nice upload mate. How do you rate the salt shelter? Its time for me to upgrade from my grauvell vertix shelter( the build quality is shockingly poor) The pegs that were provided are the cheapest ,thinnest metal ive ever seen. Every aluminium part has a horrendously sharp edge to it. And its about as waterproof as a seive. I had to waterproof it after 1 use. They are crap Just wanted your view as i like the look.of the Shakespeare salt. Cheers Chap
@Fishingbug5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I love mine it's pretty quick and simple to set. Feels pretty strong too. It comes with a built in skirt so you can chuck loads of pebbles or sand on it to stop it blowing away. I've had me and my mate in it both sitting on tackle boxes, tiny bit snug but we weren't up against the sides or hitting our heads.

Waterproof wise I haven't had any issues with it leaking I've always stayed nice a dry. The material seems pretty hard waring. If i get the chance I will try and make a review video at some point 👍

@@Fishingbug Only been sea fishing once and got blown off the beach in the October storms so packed up and went off Boscombe Pier (Bournemouth) There was one person who helped me out and taught me a lot of good stuff. I ended up catching a plaice, a very small sea bream and a smooth hound of about 10 oz. That got me hooked on sea fishing. I am an o.a.p. with a severely disabled wife which restricts my fishing to just once or twice a year. Booked a week in Eastbourne late March when I will assault the beaches and pier for 7 days. The only reason my tackle box is tidy is that I have at least 50 weeks to clean it! Like you I didn't buy anything expensive four very cheap rods and four reels. I've made over 100 rigs ready for Eastbourne and looked at the tides (very high) now its just a question of conditions when I get there. Now going to catch up on your videos as there is always something to learn.
