I needed this video I’ve had a painted disassembled takedown sitting under my desk for about 1 year

I ended up snapping my trigger safety to remove it and force the pronged rivet back out of the plastic lart so I could get it out for painting, expoxied the break back together after painting and reassembly and it works like new. Rude not to use a screw to hold it in

I'm quite sure there's there are at least 12 Takedowns around the country that were lovingly disassembled for a mod of some sort, or just curiosity's sake (should I say, Science?) that thanks to your good tutelage, can now be reassembled. Well this just helped me a lot! I disassembled mine not knowing how it was broken or jammed, but then couldn't figure out why it wasn't going together right. Having it primed and trigger locked helped a lot! Thanks!

THANK YOU. SERIOUSLY. One of my nephews wanted to make his nerf gun look cooler by filling it with ashes from the chimenea so it would smoke when he shot it- understandable kid logic, but it also predictably gunked up all of the inner mechanisms, especially after he tried to hose it out. ...aaand then tried the exact same thing on his *brother's* nerf Rival, which y'know. Same result. Got it completely disassembled, cleaned out, and reassembled thanks to your guide; we ended up shortening the firing spring by a few loops because we could *not* get the main assembly to ratchet all the way back otherwise, but no loss of firing power or distance. But again, thank you for making such a clear, easy to follow video that let someone like me (with zero experience with nerf guns) get it back into play-ready condition- you definitely saved the day!

20:10 Trigger Lock Important note! it is asymmetrical on close inspection the teeth on the top are different widths It will drop into place and the shell will close in either direction, but priming will feel rough and snaggy if it is flipped wrong. the narrower tooth should face the Right side shell. took me several assemble/disassembles to figure out why half of the time after I tinker with it if felt rough and the other half the time it felt smooth

This was a very helpful video! I recently bought a K25 spring and needed a tutorial about 2h into the installation (this was my first mod lol). Everything popped out at one point and this was a good reference. Heck when I finally got everything all back together and all the screws in the first time around the spring warped the orange railing and I had to open her up again. But it was worth it! 140 fps :), likes and subbed

lock spring was mangled in mine out of box, making priming very difficult and janky, this helped me fix it.

Me too . I bought a takedown that's very dusty at store shelves . The prime lock is also so stiff that priming it takes too much energy . So I just removed the slide lock , rack my blaster many times and now it's quite smooth .

And also if you pull the pump back and then pull the trigger push the pump forward you can get a very crude version of slam fire

So I watched this video to show me how to disassemble mine and I guess I have a newer model because when I tried to take it apart it snapped! There was a plastic connector holding it together so now it’s trash. I was thinking maybe you could make a video on how to make a custom out of the guns parts. Thank you!

The slide ratchet is literally useless and just tends to cause jams, remove if you can.

Great video as always. I love this series Do you think the Takedown would be a good holstered secondary, instead of a Kronos? I’m thinking about getting the Pistol Grip replacement kit to make it more of a tactical short shotgun with speed loaders. Any thoughts

I would think so, yes. Pump action is faster and easier. It also holds more ammo.

Easily better than a Kronos. The only thing I'd do is replace the priming handle with a better one. The one from Out of Darts feels good and installs pretty quickly. (I am not paid or sponsored by OoD... kinda wish I was.) I've thought about the pistol grip replacement, but I'm not sure if I want to do it. I might do it with a backup one and compare the two.

I'm working on a barrel extension, looking at the video it seems like one could perhaps reverse the direction of the magazine tube to extend *forward* as opposed to *rearward*, so one could increase magazine capacity that way. I'm sure it would take a LOT of work, but does it seem plausible to anyone else?

That would essentially be the same as my Kronos shotgun build, so yeah, very plausable.

Question how fo you remove the pistol grip/trigger housing from the red shell portion for painting. Fo you need to cut the thin red tabs or is there a techniwue to separate? Thanks

You should be able to fo it with a small flat screwdriver. Just be careful not to break the tabs. Take your time, go slow, add shims to keep the shell separated as you go.

The trigger lock (the wishbone shaped yellow piece) the tab on each side that locks into the lock bar is slightly different. Your thoughts on why sir? After a k25 upgrade mine is not priming smooth and maybe that's why

Our unjamming button doesn’t help unjam the gun. It can go slightly further back but never forward :(

You didn't pull it back enough then. When unjamming it you have to rack the gun back really hard and hear a small light click

If I recall, it is basically exactly this, but with a rear prime instead of a pump grip. Watching this should give you a pretty good idea.

Depends on how good you want it to be. You could hotglue a pair together in seconds. If you want a well sculpted shell integration with a single center grip and trigger, that is going to be a LOT of work.

Honestly the Takedown is one of my favorite blasters Nerf has released in a very long time... if not ever.

@@penismightier9278 , I'd definitely pick one up , if I came across one. I really like the loading on the liberator, and modded with the sentry spring nested in like the captain did, hits really good, but will not take what the takedown appears to take

@@JohnJames. I've seen a comparison between the two (Dr Flux) and the Liberator does not do well. The loading mechanism feels more like a shotgun should, but does appear to have issues. Actually it might have been the Saturn and the Liberator with the stock of the Saturn sawn off. But the Saturn has 2 more rounds and pump action. The Takedown is probably the more appropriate comparison.
