I’ve been using rust-oleum for most of my paint jobs. I’ve found it beneficial to use one of their paint and primers for the base coat, as the primer part will help it adhere to the plastic. Also, I’ve found that leaving flat or matte finish paints unprotected will cause them to wear off (especially on handles) I have started using one of their specialty lacquers as a clear coat and have had some trial and error. Beware, if you do weathering with diluted black acrylic, then wait at least 12 hours before applying the clear coat. I had an entire half of a stryfe shell orange peel on me because I was impatient and put my clear coat on too early. Other than that it works great and protects the paint very well. I hear so many people saying to use vinyl dye but I’m doing all personal builds at this point and I’ve had no issues with chipping or paint not adhering so far. I can’t justify spending $20 on a can of spray paint.
@mbmstudios97684 жыл бұрын
Acetone, Olive oil, or DW40 work well for removing sticker residue. Acetone is probably the cheapest at 99 cents, then olive oil, then dw40. If one doesn’t work, the other one will.

Keep up the great work! Cheers from Germany.
@CaptainXavier4 жыл бұрын
The trick is going to be really light coats of paint so there is not much build up (vinyl dye is great for this) and a good thin clear coat. The clear coat will protect the paint. You also might try sanding the under side of the slide to make a little more room to make up for the thickness of the layers of paint. Not much, just enough.

painting generally seems 10,000x more effort than it's worth to do it right, and then no matter how careful you are, something INEVITABLY screws up and inevitably scratches off. there are frequently areas that are really difficult to paint on nerf guns, it takes a lot of artistic skill to put something together that is generally aesthetically pleasing; in other words it takes a lot of time and commitment to not end up with something worse than what you started with.
