We are so happy that you chose to be a Master Bonsai Designer and Teacher. Without you helping America Bonsai we would be so far Behind and you are giving us the American style in Bonsai Trees. Thanks Ryan. Greg of Ohio

I don’t see any sniper shaped juniper or in general the guns on the trees so where is this “American style”

Ah Ryan, choosing between DJing and Bonsai...been there and don that! But my Bonsai career, if you can call it that, never suffered from me being a DJ! For years I wired many of my trees with red eyes and a hangover after yet another D.J weekend in clubs in Rotterdam (Holland)! Even sacrificed the hearing in my left (headphone listening) ear for it! That life and running and owning a record store in the centre of Rotterdam made my Bonsai work sometimes hard ... but I never stopped doing it! But in the end, I god too old and too tired to recover from those long weekends and then it was time to devote my time completely to my beloved Bonsai and my Bonsai students! But after all and looking back I would have never wanted to miss it! Because God truly is a DJ! But I do completely understand your choice, Ryan! And looking at what you have created and accomplished for yourself and others...well you made the right decision, no doubt about it!!!! And I have the utmost respect for what you have created at MIRAI!!! BRAVO!!! 🙏👌👍 Cheers, Hans van Meer. Karamotto Bonsai.

Hi. What exactly is the dangers with frost nights? Is it bc buds/candles are beginning to mature? Shouldnt at least indigenous trees be able to cope with that?

Very interesting...I love underground/black house music, disco and soul too, started Dj’ing 20 years ago (I still buy records occasionally). Then got into photography/videography 2006. Then music production, analog synths, etc. 2009. Then bonsai, niwaki, horticulture, I’m very new to it, in 2017ish. Though I’m not a pro/master at any of them, I still enjoy and do all of them. And though I don’t have any nice old developed trees, because I am so new to bonsai, I still have no regrets I started so late... because if I started it earlier like 20 years ago, I probably would’ve been engulfed/obsessed with bonsai and I wouldn’t have ever known the other hobbies (music, photo, etc.) Nevertheless.... bonsai and plants is the most gratifying imo.

I'm quitting back breaking sludge crawling work to take up Bonsai...and crawl in clean sludge for a change. I'm digging up my 8 year-old volunteer maples, mullberries, hackberries (my fave), pears, junipers, and crabs. I trained them from birth, mowing around them, guy wires, pruning. My neighbors think I'm crazy because I keep cutting trees shorter and shorter every year. I might ask them if I can harvest the trees in their house gutters!🤣

hey mirai why dont you just make a "green house" thats modular instead of doing the bonsai shuffle you refer to and hating my backyard bonsai are capable of being completely exposed to all sun or I can swap out filter percentage layers or I can completely encase them because I made my display to also be a modular greenhouse
