Having heard a few examples of your mother's writing and her impressive ability to describe a scene so that my vision of it encompasses the sights, sounds, and smells of the actual event, I get a definite sense for where your own talents and skills were born. Much as I would enjoy a casual conversation with you, I think I would actually prefer one with your parents.

Your parents are awesome Mike, Your mom has a great sense of humor. My mom used to watch Dirty Jobs often, but would refer to the show as "Dirty Mike". With a little bit of a Hispanic accent, her recap of your show had us in stitches. She'd say "OOO my gah(god), pobrecito(poor) Dirty Mike.... to-they(today) he was cover in caca!" Every now and then she'll say "I miss my Dirty Mike"

Great story. I too was struck by lightning while driving my Ford E350 work van on an interstate bypass. It hit my radio antenna, besides scaring the crap out me and setting my ears ringing the only things that was damaged was my antenna of course, just a black spot where it had been mounted, the radio also was fried, and for some reason the gas gauge no longer worked correctly, everything else in the vehicle was OK, I immediately stopped by a quick stop and purchased a lottery ticket, and yes it's true, it is easier to get hit by lightning than winning the lottery.

FYI, the doctor who developed enhanced musical abilities after being struck by lightning was Tony Sicoria. I have seen him performing his original composition, "Lightning Sonata," right here on KZbin. It's a beautiful song. I don't blame Mr. Rowe for hoping that he too would receive a special talent after lightning struck the building. But hey, a new television from Circuit City is also a very nice outcome. :)
@jessabentley805Ай бұрын
I think Dr. Siccoria actually had an NDE - he did “die” and come back from being struck by lightning…thus, explains his extraordinary musical ability…I don’t think Mike Rowe’s parents “died” from being struck by lightning, thank goodness..lol

Hello Mike-- Chuck from Napa, here-- These 'letters from mom' are a wonderful tonic for whatever ales ya! This one was particularly great and found myself LOLing many times. Sadly, my Mom, Dad and Sister are gone, but these stories bring back some fabulous memories of them and hopefully the promise of things to come. I'm 12 years older than you and am enjoying my age (for the most part-- ha!). Hope to meet you one of these days... CC.... PS - Tom's post from 7 mos ago is a great idea. I would be totally supportive if you brought back Paul Harvey's, "THE REST OF THE STORY", to the airwaves and you certainly hosting and producing it--- all the best to you and the family-- Merry Christmas to all!

Mike, You have acquired your own special "toolbox". I'm sure your grandfather is very proud of you. After all, that's what he advised you to do. I'm also sure that his favorite part of it is that you keep all those hilarious 😂 stories from your Mom on the very top, and then the genuinely hysterical way that you read them to all of us, and him too. Your laughter is infectious and inspiring, and healing! Isn't laughter the best medicine? Maybe that's why we have tear ducts...they're not for crying, they're for laughing 😂! You've really changed my life. I'll never be the same. Thank you for all the good you do. BTW, what color is your toolbox? Just curious 😊

I hate television overall but I would tune in if I knew you had another show. We need a common sense show. I have a suggestion.... do a show on bad advice that people have overcome. By the way these letters are AWESOME! LOL.... we need more love, laughter and common sense in this world. And fuck the main stream media and the stupid shows. House wives, Kardittzian's ..... please start another show. I've recently boycotted Hollywood movies for obvious reasons.... please start another show! Your mom is a hoot! Just a little story along the lines of “Parents. They do the darndest things. “ I bought my dad a handheld gps unit several years ago he could use while bird hunting-in case of emergency. After my mom died he was lonely and bored. So he developed a new little hobby. He would go out to the shooting range and collect the bird shot that ants used in building massive ant hills. Take it home to clean and dry and then sell it to people reloading their own shotgun sells. Of course, don’t do this in the summer, you’ll get too many ant bites! After he passed away and we were looking at his gps, what do you suppose was on it? Ant hills!
