That bike with a dropper and suspension fork would be a ripper!

Great presenter, one of the best. Beautiful bikes, although they are pricy. $$$

Looks great, I like the geo numbers and the practical details like round post w/classic clamp, down tube storage option, threaded T47bb, 50+mm tire clearance (figure seems conservative)...

Wondered where doddy went
@chm170112 күн бұрын
Yep. His official title is ‘global brand communications manager’ at Mondraker. I only know this because, I too, was wondering where he disappeared to, when I hadn’t seen him on other channels and mags. He has a really good communication style, so I’m glad to see him back, especially as I’m unfamiliar with Mondraker, so I think Doddy is perfect as their brand champion.

Yep, I'm here now! Been riding Mondraker bikes since about 2013, and have had a great relationship with team since then. It's a very natural fit for me!

With ridiculously wide bars at that

Well firstly, it's not heavy. Secondly, we didn't want to build a race weight bike as our first gravel bike. The intention is a durable bike that is strong, doesn't not have a weight limit; but can still be built up light. Incase you missed it, we also make the worlds lightest mass produced XC hardtail bike, with a frame weight of 775grams. If we think we need to produce a super lightweight gravel bike, we will.

Frame weight?

@MondrakerTV I could not find the frame weight..
@alexjohnson64629 күн бұрын
1250 grams for frame according to one of the review articles I came across. That is pretty standard for gravel bikes nowadays. Not superlight, but certainly not heavy. The new Gen 3 Trek Checkpoint frame is 1380. Both are beefy frames, by design. I would rarher have beefy frame than not. Frame isnt where the weight is on a finished bike anyway. One could easily build a 17 pound bike out of that if you wanted to throw money at it (e.g. Berd Sparrow wheels with Ekar groupset with a few carbon parts added). The wheels they spec on all the builds are not particularly light, so a lot of savings could be made up for there.

@@alexjohnson6462 that's on the heavier side these days in gravel, my gen3 gt grade frames 950 grams with plenty of strength and 30mm of compliance. No numbers giver on this bikes compliance, so im going minimum

The Ari Shafer gravel bike which has very similar geometry and has been out for a few years is likewise tested to XC bike standards plus an additional rear impact test, and I think the Shafer frame is only 1050'ish grams... so 1250g for the Arid... yeah, it could be lighter (especially since their Mondraker Podium XC hardtail is only 750ish grams), but as mentioned, as long as you can get that final build weight down that extra 200 grams gets lost in the noise. Even different tires can make up that difference. I do wonder if they used a lower grade of carbon in the Arid compared to their Podium hardtail.
